The Community Engagement Branch supports the broad non-profit/voluntary sector to build and strengthen its human and financial capacity by:

  • Providing financial assistance;
  • Building the adaptive, leadership, management, and technical capacity of organizations through facilitation and training on governance, leadership, strategic planning, fund development, collaborations, and more.
  • Identifying and addressing broader non-profit sector issues and initiatives through gathering and analyzing meaningful data on the sector, and undertaking research on key sector trends to inform and set policy direction;
  • Building cross-sector partnerships and collaborations to achieve shared goals; and Building awareness of the critical role of the non-profit sector in fostering a strong Alberta economy, and healthy and vibrant communities.

Role Responsibilities

The Community Grants Unit (the Unit) of Arts, Culture, and Status of Women administers community grants that reinvest revenues into communities; empower local citizens and community organizations to work together; and respond to local needs. The Unit administers more than $79 million through several major grant programs and receives approximately 2,000 grant applications on an annual basis.

 

The Grant Reporting Administrator position provides support to a team of Program Accounting Coordinators in the administration of the Unit’s grant files. In addition, the role is responsible for the monthly statistical reporting, group follow-ups and database updates. The Unit has approximately 2,000 to 3,000 open grant files at any given time, which are being monitored by the Program Accounting Coordinators to ensure conditions of the grant agreement are being met.

 

Some of the key responsibilities include:

  • Provides the administrative support needed to ensure the timely processing of the Unit’s open grant files.
  • Provides grant reporting review services and provides information and consultative services to assist grant recipients meet program reporting requirements for those programs delivered by the Community Grants Unit.
  • Provides initial consultation to grant recipients regarding grant reporting submissions.
  • Understands and ensures a good working knowledge of all grant related computer and database systems.
  • As a member of the Unit team, provides input in the development of program policy, procedures and processes.

Qualifications

High School diploma with 4 years related experience; or equivalent as described below. Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or 1 year of experience for 1 year of education will be considered.

 

The following be considered assets:

- Knowledge/experience with the delivery of grant or other types of funding programs;

- Experience working with stakeholders;

- Experience working with financial accounting and reporting documentation;

- Experience working in a key administrative role within a unit.
