Elections Alberta is an independent, non-partisan office of the Legislative Assembly responsible for administering provincial elections, by-elections and referenda. Role Responsibilities
Join our Financial Compliance team responsible for monitoring the financial activities of political participants, including registration, contribution and expense reporting, and financial disclosure to ensure compliance with the Election Finances and Contributions Disclosure Act (EFCDA) and other relevant legislation.
You will use your strong analytical skills to examine financial reports and conduct thorough assessments, including in-depth reviews of financial activity to ensure compliance in accordance with legislation. You will monitor and track financial submissions and deadlines, assess crucial documentation, and identify issues of non-compliance. You will also intervene as necessary to ensure alignment with governing legislation and Elections Alberta policies. When issues arise, you will use your excellent communication skills to engage with political participants and your team to resolve issues and prevent non-compliance.
You will actively engage with political entities to educate, inform, and answer questions, to ensure they have the information they need to comply with all Election Finance legislation. Additionally, you will contribute to the development and implementation of new resources, incorporating legislative changes, technological advancements, and improvements in processes, forms, and educational materials.
Qualifications

- Post-secondary degree in business, commerce or related field.
- Experience in interpreting and applying legislation, policies, procedures and generally accepted accounting principles and practices.
- Excellent analytical and critical thinking skills, with excellent attention to detail to identify issues of non-compliance.
- Tact and diplomacy, and the ability to apply professional judgment.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact with a diverse group of participants, in a non-partisan manner.
- Advanced skills in Power BI, Excel, Word and computerized accounting and database programs, and a willingness to adapt to and learn new technologies.
