The Business Services Branch strives to enhance ministry performance, transparency and accountability by providing planning, reporting and evaluation services to support achievement of ministry objectives. It also coordinates and manages the department’s engagement with centralized services, while ensuring staff have the necessary accommodations and workplace supports to deliver on their work.
Role Responsibilities
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Facilities Advisor to support the daily operations of the Edmonton office. This role will ensure the smooth operation of facilities and central administrative functions for Energy and Minerals’ staff.
Key Responsibilities include:
- Parking Administration and Coordination – Review and process parking requests for staff in accordance with the GOA directives.
- Telecommunication Services Coordination - responsible for the day-to-day telecommunication (landline) operations, resolving client issues and complaints.
- Furniture Surplus– Prepare and organize removal of furniture and supplies for Surplus Sales.
- Property Management – represent several Departments in the building (Edmonton) to ensure government and building property is maintained and meet operational requirements.
- Accommodation guidelines- collaborate with the Senior Accommodation Planner, and other Facilities Advisor to develop and maintain the accommodation guidelines and procedures in adherence with the GOA directives.
- Security: Process security access card requests, maintain access card inventory, ensure correct access is provided and conduct floor inspections.
- Process Improvement & Documentation: Contribute to procedural manuals, process updates, and team meetings to enhance operational efficiency.

Qualifications
High school diploma and four years of directly related experience in facilities management, administrative support and customer services experience.
Equivalency: Directly related experience or education considered on the basis of: one year of experience for one year of education or one year of education for one year of experience.
The position also requires the following experience:
- Strong logical and methodical reasoning
- Ability to effectively communicate with various levels throughout the department, plan, budget, investigate issues, provide options, make recommendations, manage time and manage projects.
The following are considered Assets:
- Strong interpersonal and communication with a focus on client interaction and satisfaction.
- Strong collaboration and team skills.
- Knowledgeable in administrative guidelines, directives, processes and procedures.
- Experience in direct, corporate service delivery (Accommodations, IT, finance, etc).

Notes
Hours of Work:
• 36.25 hours per week (full time) Monday to Friday. Due to the nature of the work, this position is not eligible for hybrid work arrangements.
Term of Employment:
• This is a full-time permanent position.
Location:
• Petroleum Plaza Building North Tower, Edmonton.
Final candidates will be required to undergo an academic credentials verification.
This position is required to work from the on-site office location each day. There will not be an opportunity to do this work from a remote location or flex time.
