Role
Reporting to the Assistant Deputy Minister, Private Career Colleges and Student Aid, the Executive Director is responsible for providing leadership, support and strategic direction on key innovation initiatives in the department. The Executive Director builds and maintains strong relationships with senior leaders across the sector, including community organizations and regulatory bodies to ensure compliance with policies and standards.
The Private Career Colleges and Compliance branch is responsible for the regulation of career training programs offered by private institutions in Alberta in accordance with the Private Vocational Training Act and Regulation. This responsibility includes ensuring programs licensed in Alberta comply with requirements set out in the Act and Regulation and ensuring that licensees and operators are aware of licensing and compliance requirements. This regulatory oversight role ensures an accessible, accountable, and affordable career training sector exists so students can obtain the skills and knowledge required to find employment.
This branch is also responsible for the continuous improvement of department IT systems, system coordination and the program approval and quality assurance process, and monitoring and enhancing learner pathways. The Executive Director will also identify opportunities and develop innovative strategies to achieve continuous improvement in branch service delivery in alignment with government priorities such as red tape reduction.
Qualifications
Extensive related senior management experience, exceptional collaboration, and political acumen to address complex and sensitive issues are essential to your success. You are a seasoned leader, skilled at supporting teams and inspiring a culture of change, innovation, and service. Sound decision making and an ability to influence will be key to achieving results with strong policy, legislation and operational experience. An understanding of the post-secondary system and legislation would be an asset. A university education in a related field is preferred with related management experience required. Experience will also include program implementation and/or project management and stakeholder management in a government setting and in an information management and technology environment. A bachelor’s degree will be considered; a master’s degree is preferred.
Salary
$5,234.94 - $6,879.68 bi-weekly ($136,631 - $179,559 annually)
