Role

Reporting to the Assistant Deputy Minister, Indigenous Health, you will help lead the planning and enhancement of the quality and delivery of Indigenous health care services across the province by building and enhancing relationships and partnerships with Indigenous Peoples. This will include developing strategic policies and programs that will advance Indigenous culturally sensitive models of health care and leverage all health care professionals to improve health equity for Indigenous Peoples.  You will work collaboratively with the federal government and provide strategic policy analysis related to complex jurisdictional responsibilities for health services provision in Alberta, on and off reserve and on and off settlement.  Your excellent communication and influential skills will help create strong networks and relationships with First Nations, Metis and Inuit health leaders and will help you work to build strong cultural awareness within the department for improved health outcomes for Indigenous communities. You have experience leading strong teams accountable for policy analysis and policy development, and you demonstrate an understanding of government and department priorities.

 

Qualifications

This key role requires a performance driven, influential leader with significant senior leadership experience in challenging multi-stakeholder environments. Your career reflects proven strengths in Indigenous health systems or health care delivery, policy development, multiple stakeholder engagement, managing complex issues and a collaborative and integrated approach to achieving corporate goals. Your background includes a demonstrated understanding of government structure and decision-making, legislative frameworks, accountability processes and policy development mechanisms.   A capable relationship builder, you excel at engaging Indigenous communities and stakeholders in shaping and implementing high impact initiatives. Your capacity to inspire and empower change-agile teams will support you in delivering on key objectives. An understanding of Indigenous health system priorities, health care delivery, and issues within the political, economic, and global environment is essential to your success.  A University degree is preferred.

 

 

Salary

$5,234.94 - $6,879.68 bi-weekly ($136,631 - $179,559 annually)
