The Ministry of Executive Council is responsible for coordinating and supporting the executive arm of government: the Cabinet (also known as Executive Council) and its committees. Executive Council ensures effective strategic planning and coordinated policy development across government, engagement of Albertans and the broader global community, and the promotion of a vibrant and innovative public service. It ensures outcomes are achieved by supporting strategic planning, coordinated policy development and informed decision-making for the Government of Alberta, and helps ministries communicate and engage with Albertans.

Role
Your leadership will provide intergovernmental policy recommendations to set government direction, providing strategic advice to Senior Officials and elected officials, and representing Alberta on major intergovernmental files. You will lead a team responsible for supporting the Premier’s intergovernmental meetings, including First Ministers’ Meetings, Council of the Federation, Western Premiers’ Conference, and New West Partnership. You will also oversee the central intergovernmental relations of all social policy files, including the health, education, and finance files. Overseeing a team of senior managers and professional staff, you will guide the achievement of objectives related to Canadian federalism and the Constitution. Your capacity to build relationships and key alliances with other governments and other stakeholders will support a collaborative and integrated approach to achieving the government’s intergovernmental goals and priorities.
Qualifications
Knowledge of Canadian federalism and the Canadian intergovernmental relations environment, and awareness of jurisdictional issues, emerging issues and current events impacting intergovernmental relations.
Your background includes extensive related senior management experience with strengths in leadership, systems thinking and complex project management. You possess senior level experience in public policy, and experience in intergovernmental relations is preferred. Seasoned in managing critical relationships with senior stakeholders across a variety of spectrums, you are recognized for your ability to lead and influence prominent strategic initiatives. Your reputation for empowering teams and facilitating change will position you for success. A degree in Political Science, Economics, Canadian Studies, or a related discipline will be an asset.
A graduate degree is preferred.
Salary
$5,234.94 - $6,879.68 bi-weekly ($136,632- $179,560 yearly)
