WHO WE ARE

We are an office of 150 professionals mandated by the Auditor General Act to examine and report publicly on the Government of Alberta’s management of the public resources entrusted to it. We report directly to the 87 Members of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta, and through them, we serve the more than four million people who call Alberta home.

 

WHAT WE DO

We are the auditors of the Consolidated Financial Statements of the Province of Alberta and most provincial agencies, boards, commissions, and regulated funds. We audit so that we can report on how well the government is managing its responsibilities and the province’s resources. We provide independent assurance to Albertans that public money is properly accounted for and provides value.

 

THE ROLE

Reporting to the Administrative Team Lead, you are a resource to the Assistant Auditor General and audit teams. You'll enjoy leveraging your collaborative skills in a productive team-based environment.

Key Responsibilities:

 

Proactive support: Anticipate the needs of the Assistant Auditor General and take proactive steps to ensure their success and productivity.

Idea generation: Contribute creative ideas to improve processes, enhance efficiency, and add value to the administrative team.

Willingness to learn: Demonstrate a strong desire to learn about our organization, its operations, and the audit process to provide effective support.

Calendar and schedule management: Efficiently manage the Assistant Auditor General's calendar, coordinate appointments, and ensure seamless scheduling.

Meeting preparation: Prepare materials and agendas for meetings, ensuring the Assistant Auditor General is well-prepared and informed.

Travel coordination: Organize and manage travel arrangements, including flights, accommodation, and itineraries.

Problem-solving: Resourceful and able to find solutions independently.

Attention to detail: Accuracy matters when managing calendars, documents, and other administrative tasks.

Project assistance: Provide project management support and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Confidentiality: Maintain strict confidentiality and discretion in handling sensitive information.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

 

Required:

  • High school diploma
  • Minimum of four years progressively responsible related experience providing senior administrative support in a busy office setting
  • Related office administration certificate or diploma is preferred
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft 365 applications
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

 

Assets:

  • Microsoft SharePoint experience
  • Related government experience or knowledge of government structure

 

Equivalencies of directly related education or experience on the basis of one year of education for one year of experience; or one year of experience for one year of education will be considered.

 

COMPENSATION

 

NOTES

  • Final candidates for this position will be asked to undergo a security clearance.

  • This role is for the Edmonton office, and the position works 36.25 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with overtime as required.
