The Forestry division is responsible for promoting sustainable forest management practices, preventing and managing wildfires, and ensuring that Alberta's forests are managed in a way that balances ecological, economic, and social considerations. Our team manages forest tenure agreements, promotes market access for wood products, and supports forest-related research and innovation. We work collaboratively with stakeholders to ensure that Alberta's forests continue to provide ecological, economic, and social benefits for generations to come.

If so, the role of Executive Advisor to the Assistant Deputy Minister (ADM) of the Forestry Division might be the perfect opportunity for you.
As the Executive Advisor, you will provide support to the Division’s ADM and Branch Directors by managing and overseeing the strategic direction, policy, planning, and engagement processes throughout the Division. You will also establish and manage a comprehensive system of responses to urgent requests and briefings, allowing the Division to maintain day-to-day operations with minimal disruption. You will work with senior leaders and executives on a daily basis, requiring you to have critical skills in influencing, coaching, and understanding government systems. As a member of the Division’s leadership team, you will provide expertise and input into strategic policy decisions and governance processes.
Using your strong systems thinking, analytical, and project management skills, you will manage and oversee operational systems for the ADM office, ensuring that the ADM receives timely and accurate briefings on issues affecting the Forestry Division. Your excellent interpersonal and communication skills will enable creative and innovative solutions to continuously improve the Division’s operations and strategies.
As the Executive Advisor, you will be responsible for ensuring the effective integration and coordination of Forestry Division activities with other divisions within the Ministry of Forestry, Parks, and Tourism, as well as with other departments and government agencies. Your ability to establish and cultivate strong relationships and partnerships, take initiative, demonstrate a sense of shared responsibility for outcomes, and work independently with confidence will be critical to your success in this role.
Qualifications
A university degree in a related field supplemented by four (4) years of related experience is required.
Assets:
- Demonstrated experience in policy development, issue management and coordination, and project management
- Previous experience working in an executive office environment
Directly related experience and or education is considered on a one-for-one basis.

Salary
$3,100.80 - $4,172.77 biweekly: $80,930 – $108,909 yearly
Notes
This position is a permanent, full-time role with the standard weekly work hours of 36.25, Monday to Friday.
Final candidates will be required to undergo security screening.
