The Engagement Analyst assumes a critical position within the organization that straddles both research and analysis for policy development as well as engagement and consultation best practices. Your main focus will be in fostering inclusive practices and advancing Indigenous perspectives within land and natural resource management engagements and policy decisions. You will be a pivotal link between cross-ministry project teams and Indigenous groups and organizations. The Analyst is entrusted to offering guidance on engagement, analyzing outcomes, and formulating recommendations that drive senior-level decision-making. This multifacected role requires a combination of expertise in Indigenous engagement, political acumen and strategic thinking to effectively navigate through complex situations and spaces while maintaining key relationships and networks.

Qualifications

4 years University graduation in a related field (natural resource/environmental management; social sciences; Indigenous studies; etc.) plus 2 years progressively responsible related experience; or equivalent as described below. 

Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:

• 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or 
• 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.

Experience:

• Excellent written and oral communication skills, adept at tailoring messages to diverse audiences.
• Presentation: capable of effectively conveying complex information.
• Record Management: leading successful coordination and maintenance of project files and both internal and external reporting systems.
• Research: qualitative and quantitative research methods and data analysis.
• Proven ability to ensure client service excellence, maintain confidentiality, and apply innovative approaches to problem-solving.

Preferred:

• Experience in Indigenous Engagement: Demonstrated experience in working with Indigenous communities or organizations, showcasing your ability to navigate cultural sensitivities, build meaningful relationships, and contribute effectively to Indigenous engagement initiatives.
• Familiarity with Government Policies: Proficiency in understanding and applying relevant government policies, guidelines, and processes related to Indigenous consultation and land use management, such as the Government of Alberta's Policies on Consultation with First Nations or Metis Settlements.
• Effective conflict resolution, negotiation, and influence skills.
• Strong organizational skills, including multitasking and prioritization of responsibilities.
• Independent work capacity combined with effective teamwork skills.

Notes

Hours of Work:

• 7.25 daily hours
• 36.25 weekly hours
• 8:15AM to 4:30PM (Monday to Friday)

Location:

• Calgary, Alberta, consideration will be given to Edmonton as a potential location.

Other Requirements:

• Valid class 5 driver's license with a clean drivers abstract.
• Physical ability to travel to remote locations in Alberta that may include driving on gravel roads or may include riding in small aircrafts.
• Final candidates will be required to undergo a security screening.
