As the Emergency Services Officer, Facility Emergency Response, you will be reporting to the Director of Emergency Management and Security. You will be responsible for the delivery and coordination of the Facility Emergency Response program in approximately 70 facilities where the ministry is the primary occupying department. You will act as a subject matter expert for the Ministry on issues related to plan development, training, and program administration. During large-scale disasters and activation of the ministry’s Departmental Emergency Coordination Centre, you will provide leadership and support to the CFS Emergency Management Team and their coordination of support to staff, children in care, foster and kinship caregivers, youth in Provincial Campus-based Care facilities and clients in women and youth shelters across the province.
To be successful in this role, you will require in-depth knowledge of:
• The Alberta Infrastructure’s Facility Emergency Planning Program;
• Facility Emergency Response, Business Continuity and Consequence Management planning and have an understanding of the Government’s Occupational Health & Safety program.
• Emergency management policies, procedures and protocols and a thorough knowledge of the operational processes of the Provincial Emergency Coordination Centre.
You must employ a high degree of evaluative and creative thinking as you will be expected to assess issues and risks, develop robust strategies and scenarios, as well as translate technical and emergency management concepts into non-technical language. Your excellent analytical, written and verbal communication skills will be essential to developing successful working relationships and foster a collaborative environment

Qualifications
University graduation in a related field plus 4 years combined experience in related field (such as emergency management, risk management and/or business continuity) is required.
Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:
1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
1 year of experience for 1 year of education
Assets:
• excellent analytical, written, and verbal communication skills and experience with writing emergency management plans, post-incident assessments and briefing notes.
• Designation as a Certified or an Associate Business Continuity Professional.
Requirements:
• Completion of the PECC Basic Emergency Management (BEM) course and a minimum of Incident Command System (ICS) Level 200 Course.

Role Requirements
• Possessing a valid Class 5 driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle.
• The ability to travel within the region is required.
