Victims of Crime Assistance Program
The Victims of Crime Assistance Program (VAP) is a new service delivery-based program. VAP is comprised of a suite of services, which will provide supports and services to victims of serious violent crime, and families of homicide victims.

Role Responsibilities

This caseworker role demands strong skills in obtaining, verifying, and analyzing information to support decision-making. It operates within a framework of specific policies and legislation, requiring you to have a thorough understanding and interpretation of these regulations. Key policies and legislation include the Victims of Crime and Public Safety Act, the Victims of Crime and Public Safety Regulation, the Criminal Code of Canada, the Health Information Act (HIA), the Freedom of Information and Privacy Act (FOIP), and other relevant policies for new programs and services. This position is responsible for reviewing and assessing applications for multiple services while ensuring all eligibility requirements have been considered and inform the rationale for actions on a file.

Qualifications

Two-year diploma in Social Services, Public Administration, Criminology or any other related fields.

Please note that experience in administration, including financial management and records management is preferred.

Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of: 
-1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or 
-1 year of experience for 1 year of education

Assets: 
•Knowledge of financial management best practises
•User acceptance testing of databases and applications (eg. 1GX, JOIN, VISTAS)
•Experience working with or interpreting legislation.
•Experience working in the Criminal Justice System, victim service organizations or related fields.
•Completion of Victim Advocate Training.
•Experience in adjudication and or case management.

•Hours of Work: 36.25 hours per week (temporary full time)
•Monday to Friday (8:15 am to 4:30 pm)
