About the Role:

Are you a dynamic leader with a passion for advancing strategic planning, emergency management, and performance measurement within an organization?  Do you have experience planning for and leading discussions with executive leaders to help shape the organization’s priorities and deliver on its mandate?  Have you influenced strategic decision making?

Key Responsibilities:

Reporting directly to the Assistant Deputy Minister and Senior Financial Officer of Treasury Board and Finance you will be responsible for:

Strategic Planning & Reporting: Lead and direct strategic planning and performance measurement systems, including the preparation of the department’s Business Plan, operational plans, Annual Report and other associated performance reports.
Enterprise Risk Management: Drive risk management and awareness across the organization, ensuring the identification, assessment and proper treatment of risks.
Red Tape Reduction: Integrate red tape reduction initiatives with policy development.
Emergency Response Planning: Ensure preparedness through the development and maintenance of emergency plans, training, and exercises.
Staff Leadership: Lead, mentor, and develop staff to achieve performance goals and contribute to a positive, respectful work environment. 
Cultural Champion: Provide horizontal leadership to influence and cultivate an organizational culture reflective of the government’s core values.

Qualifications

Our ideal candidate would typically hold a post-secondary degree in Business Management, Public Administration, Social Sciences or related discipline plus a minimum of 7 years extensive experience in strategic business planning and reporting, performance measurement and enterprise risk management.

•    Excellent written and oral communication skills, with the ability to tailor messaging for diverse audiences.
•    Proven interpersonal, collaborative and negotiation skills that build effective working relationships and build consensus.
•    Strong consultation and facilitation skills that ensure key stakeholders’ diverse perspectives are considered, including adapting and pivoting on the spot to ensure outcomes are achieved.
•    Strategic thinking skills, including the ability to anticipate future challenges and opportunities, determine their impact on the department and adapt plans accordingly. 
•    Strong analytical skills to synthesize complex issues, recommend effective solutions and develop processes to implement solutions.
•    Experience in project management with the ability to achieve high quality results within specified timelines. 
•    A relevant masters degree, including but not limited to a MBA or MPA/MPP.
•    Proficiency in emergency management or business continuity planning with an accreditation as a Certified Business Continuity Professional (CBCP) or Associate Business Continuity
     Professional (ABCP).

The position will be located in the Terrace Building located at 9515 107 St NW, Edmonton.

This is a full-time permanent position working 7.25 hours per day / 36.25 hours per week, Monday through Friday.
