Alberta Infrastructure designs, builds, manages, and maintains government-owned and operated facilities, and collaborates with other ministries to ensure that schools, hospitals and government facilities infrastructure meet the needs of Alberta’s population. The Ministry also provides accommodation services and manages a large portfolio of owned and leased facilities while maintaining fiscal accountability and optimizing value for Albertans.

Role Responsibilities

The Director provides strategic leadership for a suite of business services that underpin and enable branch functions which include commercial leasing and diverse land sales, development and acquisition projects. This includes planning, developing, and evaluating land services policies, procedures and documentation. 

 
The responsibilities for the Director include (but are not limited to): 
 

  • Directing the development and management of a comprehensive and consolidated repository of policies, procedures and documentation to support all branch functions including real estate purchases, real estate sales, real estate leases, expropriations, land title conveyancing, consulting contracts and other interests in real property
  • Leading the provision of consultation services to RSB business units to support their financial and operational planning in line with the Ministry's Business Plans
  • Directing preparation of financial plans in compliance with Treasury Board guidelines and departmental requirements
  • Providing contract management and documentation administration services in collaboration with other business areas for the completion, extension and/or renewal of existing contracts; consistent with sound contractual practices that respect Ministry and GoA fiduciary obligations
  • Providing consolidated HR support, management services and administration in collaboration with individual business units within the Branch (e.g., recruitment, ensure access to IT and services)
  • Building and sustaining strategic networks with internal stakeholders to facilitate delivery of continuous process improvements to business services

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

Post-secondary degree in accounting, business, contract law or a directly related discipline PLUS 7 years of progressively responsible management experience developing and leading teams

 

Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on a one-for-one basis (one year of education for one year of experience or vise versa)
 

 Experience or knowledge that will be considered and asset:

  • Understanding of concepts, principles and practices associated with real estate transactions including contract law, appraisal, negotiation, leases, sales and acquisitions
  • Knowledge of contract management and oversight involving multifaceted real estate business requirements
  • Experience in business improvement and technology based real estate systems
  • Ability to interpret and understand legal documents, property descriptions and survey plans

Hours of Work: 7.25 per day, 36.25 hours per week
