The Alberta Public Service works to build a stronger province for current and future generations. We make a difference in the lives of Albertans through rewarding and diverse career opportunities.

Within the Ministry of Advanced Education  The Apprenticeship Delivery and Support Services branch includes the Apprenticeship Delivery & Industry Support Services (ADISS) unit, which sets and maintains standards for Alberta’s apprenticeship education programs, industry training programs, and certification in provincially designated trades.

Working with partners across the division, other ministries, post-secondary institutions, industry, and other jurisdictions, the unit supports the delivery of apprenticeship education and the development of trade certification criteria. It also supports the Alberta Board of Skilled Trades and coordinates provincial activities related to the Red Seal program.

Reporting to the Executive Director, Apprenticeship Delivery and Support Services, the Director, Apprenticeship Delivery & Industry Support Services (ADISS) plays a key leadership role in advancing Alberta’s apprenticeship and skilled trades system. Leading a talented multidisciplinary team, the Director oversees the standards that underpin apprenticeship education, industry training, and certification across provincially designated trades.

This highly collaborative role brings together professional, technical, and administrative expertise and works closely with industry and other partners to translate evolving workforce needs into strong, responsive program standards and certification practices. • Program Standards and Industry Support: Coordinate the unit’s professional, technical, and administrative work; oversee provincial Red Seal activities and related policy; support the Alberta Board of Skilled Trades in maintaining trade scopes and certification criteria and promoting skilled trades; and support Red Seal secretariat services for other Canadian jurisdictions. Work with institutions and industry on apprenticeship education, industry training, and certification criteria, and monitor dual credit coordination and policy development.

  • Issues Management and Risk Resolution: Build collaborative relationships that encourage transparent communication, establish expectations for raising and resolving issues, assess risks proactively, and ensure stakeholders share a consistent understanding of roles and responsibilities.

  • Operational Planning and Implementation: Collaborate with executive leadership and other branches on operational plans, align initiatives with unit capacity, monitor delivery and risks, and coordinate resources and division partners to keep operations on track.
