Contribute your strategic leadership to Alberta’s Deputy Minister team. Deputy Ministers serve as bridges between the governing and administrative functions of government, translating government priorities into public service outcomes and actions. They lead across department boundaries to ensure that government policy and strategic priorities are aligned and addressed from a holistic, systems-wide perspective. Together they create an integrated, engaged and citizen-centered public service.

 

We are recruiting to the Deputy Minister position for Alberta Transportation and Economic Corridors. The ministry provides a safe and efficient transportation system, delivers water management infrastructure, and advances market access routes to support Alberta’s economic, social, and environmental vitality.

Role

As an active member of Deputy Ministers’ Council, a key focus of your role is a shared accountability for delivering on government mandates. Through leadership and collaboration with your department executive team, partners and other stakeholders, you will oversee programs and services that build and maintain relationships of trust, cooperation and open dialogue with ministry partners, industry and other stakeholders such as municipalities, the   federal government and Indigenous communities. In striving for continuous improvement, your outcomes include advancing strategic economic corridors and ensuring Alberta’s transportation and water management infrastructure is maintained sustainably, responsibly, and cost-effectively for the long term. You will articulate a vision for the successful achievement of outcomes in the ministry’s core business areas. 

 

 

Qualifications

An influential and highly credible leader, your career reflects extensive and varied executive management experience. You bring strengths in political acumen, leading complex program operations and policy development, and are recognized for your ability to influence innovative outcomes. Your experience in roles with accountability for large scale initiatives and significant financial management will position you well for the role. Your reputation for leading change, empowering teams and building capacity in challenging fiscal environments will support your success. A related degree is an asset.
