Curriculum Division
Curriculum Division provides strategic leadership in establishing provincial standards and guidelines for curriculum for all subjects and grades Kindergarten to Grade 12. As part of the ministry’s ongoing focus on student learning, the division develops, reviews, revises and maintains provincial curriculum and associated learning and teaching resources in English and French.

About the Role
Reporting to the Director, you’ll support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of curriculum aligned with The Guiding Framework. You’ll work closely with educators, communities, and partners to ensure curriculum reflects diverse perspectives and meets the evolving needs of Alberta students.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead curriculum development and implementation for K–12 mathematics.
- Build strong relationships with stakeholders to inform and promote curriculum.
- Provide research-informed advice and respond to public inquiries.
- Represent the department on provincial and national committees.
- Manage projects, contracts, and team operations as assigned.
- Contribute to professional learning and support materials.
- Ensure curriculum continuity across grades and transitions to post-secondary/workforce.

Qualifications
Master's Degree in Education or a related field plus five years related experience or equivalent as described below.
Equivalency: Bachelor's Degree in a related field plus seven years of related experience.
Role Requirements
- Deep knowledge of curriculum development models and mathematics education, including theory, history, and current research.
- Familiarity with the theory, principles, and practices in mathematics to ensure high-quality, research-informed curriculum development.
- Understanding of Alberta’s education policies, accountability systems, and curriculum frameworks (e.g., Education Act, Guide to Education, The Guiding Framework, FOIP).
- Ability to navigate department policies and collaborate across school authorities.
Assets
- High school mathematics teaching experience.
- Fluency in both French and English.
- Knowledge of First Nations, Métis, and Inuit cultures.
- Familiarity with 21st century learning principles.
- Strong research, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Effective project management and organizational abilities.
- Proven initiative, agility, and problem-solving skills.
- Teaching certificate with extensive mathematics teaching and leadership experience.

This competition is for a permanent position based in Edmonton, offering a work schedule of Monday to Friday, totaling 36.25 hours per week.
Working location is 8th floor, 44 Capital Boulevard, 10044-108 St. NW, Edmonton.
