Court Technology Services (CTS) provides and supports the technology tools to power the court and justice system throughout Alberta. 

Role Responsibilities

In this position you will be reporting to the Senior Manager, you will provide a broad range of technical information technologies services to support the Courts, The ministry of Justice, and government wide initiatives and operations. You will be responsible to ensure department and Court system wide initiatives follow Audio Visual (AV) and Information Technology (IT) principles and practice in accordance with court and industry wide practices.
 

You will have primary focus on audio visual architecture, with secondary focus on Information technology architecture.
 

You will play a key role in coordinating with business areas, AV/IT operations, Justice management, partner organizations and vendors to ensure AV/IT solutions are technically sound, meet business needs, sustainable and are a sound investment. 

Your key responsibilities Include (but are not limited to):

  • Overseeing technical aspects of initiatives, projects, and enhancements to ensure alignment of Audio Visual and Information Technology architecture within domains and across the enterprise.
  • Within the context of AV/IT architecture, performing early analysis of requirements, opportunities, and challenges, thereby lowering initiative, project, enhancement risk.
  • Facilitating communication with business areas, Court Technology Service (CTS) operations, partner organizations and vendors to ensure solutions are aligned with business objectives. 
  • Development and maintenance of current and future state standards and roadmap architectures. 
  • Ensuring optimal utilization of AV/IT investment and providing technical expertise and leadership to the department.
  • Ensure architectural alignment across initiatives, projects, government enterprise, partners, vendors, and jurisdictions to maximize AV/IT investment and lower enterprise risk.
  • Provide technical advice and expertise to IM/IT management to evaluate adoption of emerging technologies.
  • Ensure AV/IT solutions comply with applicable Audio Visual, data, application, technology standards, principles, and guidelines so that AV/IT assets are available for reuse for other solutions.


The Ideal candidate will possess:

  • Overall business knowledge of strategies, guidelines, policies, legislation and processes of the organization.
  • In depth knowledge of enterprise architecture, methods, tools and frameworks.
  • Knowledge of solution development methods, modern software design methodologies and frameworks, cloud infrastructure, container-based development.
  • Understanding of all aspects of the technology life cycle.
  • Experience as a technical leader on development teams.
  • Ability to work well in a team environment, take direction, mentor junior employees and work within deadline constraints is essential.
  • Strong communication skills are required to explain IT concepts, consult with stakeholders and provide guidance.
  • Thorough knowledge of computer science concepts and methodologies (software, infrastructure, programming, network and mainframe products, and systems management).

Qualifications

Required:
University graduation in computer science or a related discipline plus at least four years related experience (like; Network Architect, Technology Architect, Cloud Architect etc.)
 

Equivalency considered on the basis of: 

  • A related two-year diploma in audio visual, computer technology or a related discipline from a recognized post secondary institution and six years related experience.
  • or a related one-year certificate from a recognized post-secondary institution and seven years related experience.
     

Assets considered on the basis:

  • Working experience with Audio Visual Network systems, and design.
  • Working experience with Information Technology systems, architecture, and design.
  • Working experience with Cyber Security architecture. 
  • Certifications for Audio Engineer, Technology Specialist – Design, Audiovisual Network Professional, IT Architecture, Cyber Security Architecture, Cloud Architecture.
  • Experience using and applying Government / Courts IT policies and legislation and an understanding of its application on related assignments.

Notes

This one full time permanent position located in Edmonton.
 

Travel may be required on need basis.
 

Hours of work: 36.25 per week, Monday – Friday.

  • Security Screening is required.
