We are seeking an experienced Corporate Solutions Architect to provide strategic architectural leadership across government and health system initiatives. This role ensures alignment of Information Management/Information Technology solutions with enterprise standards, maximizes return on Information Technology investments, and reduces organizational risk by guiding projects, partners, and stakeholders toward cohesive, reusable, and future-ready architectures.
The Corporate Solutions Architect provides strategic and hands-on technical leadership to support department, government, and health system wide initiatives. This role ensures that information technology solutions are architecturally sound, aligned with business objectives, sustainable, and consistent with Government of Alberta standards and industry best practices.
Role Responsibilities
As a Corporate Solutions Architect, you will work closely with business areas, Information Technology operations, Information Technology management, partner organizations, and vendors to guide initiatives from early concept through delivery, ensuring optimal use of Information Technology investments and reducing technical and delivery risk.
The job responsibilities include:
- Enterprise Architecture Alignment
- Ensure architectural alignment across initiatives, projects, government enterprise, partners, vendors, and jurisdictions to maximize Information Technology investment and minimize enterprise risk.
- Serve as the focal point for resolving architecture issues within architecture management portfolios.
- Participate in inter- and intra-departmental architecture teams.
- Provide architectural input into Information Management/Information Technology planning processes and the Enterprise Information Management/Information Technology Planning Committee (EIPC).
- Identify architectural dependencies and impacts across projects.
- Monitor Information Management/Information Technology solutions under development.
- Ensure significant architecture decisions are documented by project teams.
- Architecture Planning & Roadmaps
- Develop and maintain current state, future state, and transition-state architecture roadmaps to support strategic Information Management/Information Technology planning.
- Identify gaps between current architecture, transition states, and future vision.
- Define approaches to address architectural gaps and challenges.
- Propose refinements to government-wide and health system-wide architectures.
- Ensure enterprise architecture asset inventories are established, maintained, and published to stakeholders.
- Asset Reuse & Enterprise Contribution
- Ensure project teams reuse, extend, and contribute Information Management/Information Technology assets to optimize enterprise value.
- Identify and communicate opportunities to reuse existing assets.
- Identify opportunities to acquire and adopt new assets that improve capability, efficiency, and value.
- Provide architectural guidance and analysis to project teams on available Information Management/Information Technology assets.
- Promote application designs that improve integration and reuse across the enterprise.
- Architecture Asset Management
- Maximize IT investment through effective architecture and asset management practices.
- Define architectural expectations for projects across all phases of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
- Provide guidance on architecture management approaches, best practices, tools, and methods.
- Ensure project work plans include appropriate architecture deliverables.
- Actively manage and continuously improve architecture asset management processes.

- Ensure IM/IT solutions comply with enterprise data, application, and technology standards to support reuse and sustainability.
- Evaluate and recommend Information Management/Information Technology solution designs.
- Report on use of and contributions to corporate Information Management/Information Technology assets.
- Identify and report architectural misalignments.
- Assess and communicate risks associated with architectural approaches and options.
- Emerging Technology Advisory
- Provide expert technical advice to Information Management/Information Technology leadership on emerging technologies and innovation opportunities.
- Maintain advanced technical expertise through continuous learning and training.
- Research targeted emerging technologies to identify opportunities and impacts.
- Participate in and conduct proof-of-concept initiatives.
- Communicate findings through reports, seminars, workshops, and executive briefings.

Qualifications
Minimum Recruitment Standards
University graduation in computer science or a related discipline plus four years related experience; or equivalent as described.
Equivalency: A related two-year diploma in computer technology or a related discipline from a recognized postsecondary institution and six years related experience; or a related one-year certificate from a recognized post-secondary institution and seven years related experience.
The following experience is required:
- Overall business knowledge of strategies, guidelines, policies, legislation, and processes of the organization.
- In depth knowledge of enterprise architecture, methods, tools, and frameworks.
- Experience of solution development approaches such as and not limited to software design methodologies and frameworks, cloud infrastructure, container-based development.
- Understanding of all aspects of the software development life cycle.
- Experience with agile development methodologies.
- Experience as a technical leader on development teams.
- Knowledge of industry best practices and processes.
The following experience will be given preference:
- Direct experience leading enterprise-wide architecture/technical initiatives.
- Preference will be given to candidate with over 2 years of experience as Architect or Technical Lead.

Hours of work are 8:15 AM to 4:30 PM, Monday to Friday. This is a full-time position working 36.25 hours per week.
