The Office of the Controller is responsible for government accounting policies and financial reporting, financial management and control policies, risk management (financial and audit risk) and financial business process management. The division is a leader in sponsoring, supporting and facilitating initiatives with outcomes focused on effectiveness, efficiency, best practice and continual improvement by the government financial community. Corporate Internal Audit Services (CIAS) reports administratively to the Controller and performs internal audits across government.

Role Responsibilities
Join the Government of Alberta’s Office of the Controller and play a pivotal role in enhancing financial reporting and operational efficiencies across the province. As a Corporate Reporting Analyst, you will drive impactful projects that streamline processes and support the “One GoA” approach.
As a Corporate Reporting Analyst, you will assist in planning, coordinating, and tracking progress on government-wide projects. Your work will ensure alignment with strategic objectives and deliverables. Collaborate with team members, ministries, and the 1GX Centre of Excellence to optimize financial systems and contribute to the development of a robust financial framework.
Key Responsibilities:
• Project Coordination and Management:
○ Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans.
○ Coordinate activities across ministries for seamless execution.
○ Track project progress and implement mitigation strategies.
○ Organize discussions and summarize decisions for project teams.
○ Document and communicate project deliverables to the finance community.
• Financial Systems Optimization:
○ Assist in configuring and optimizing financial system functions.
○ Provide technical support for troubleshooting and resolving system issues.
○ Collaborate with stakeholders to enhance system performance and efficiency.
○ Stay updated on industry trends to recommend innovative solutions.
• Preparation of Accountability Reports:
○ Prepare working papers and maintain reports for fiscal updates.
○ Analyze and reconcile financial information from ministries.
○ Identify opportunities for automation and present to senior management.
○ Support master data maintenance and resolve related issues.
• Corporate Support and Training:
○ Develop and revise training materials for ministries.
○ Facilitate communication of system updates to the GoA Finance Community.
○ Provide technical support and address user challenges.

Qualifications
University graduation is required in Business, Accounting, Project Management, or a related field, plus minimum of four years of progressively responsible experience in project management and leading committees.
Candidates should possess working knowledge of public-sector accounting standards (PSAB) and Government of Alberta financial policies, along with experience in 1GX S4 and BPC or similar ERP/financial systems.

• Experience in system optimization and automation.
• Ability to work effectively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
• Recognized project management certification

Notes
This is a permanent, full-time position working 36.25 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
This position will be located in the Terrace Building in Edmonton.
Candidates with lesser qualifications may be considered at a lower classification and salary. This competition may be used to fill future roles at the same or lower classifications.
Candidates may be asked to participate in a written assessment prior to the interview.
The final candidate for this position will be asked to undergo pre-employment checks.
