Role Responsibilities
As the Corporate Planning & Evaluation Advisor, you will play a crucial role in the strategic planning and evaluation activities within the ministry.
Your key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Strategic Planning and Reporting: Contribute to the development of the ministry’s business plan and annual report, consult with executive management, and ensure the accurate presentation of strategies and performance measures.
- Advisory and Coordination Support: Provide guidance on planning and reporting initiatives, support teams with drafting content, and ensure alignment with government frameworks.
- Enterprise Risk Management (ERM): Ensure the integration of ERM into decision-making processes, develop and maintain a corporate risk register, and provide training and support across the ministry to increase capacity and skill in ERM.
- Supporting Organizational Goals: Assist in developing briefing materials, coordinate special projects, and collaborate on continuous improvement initiatives that build the ministry’s capacity and skill in planning, reporting and briefing projects.
As an ideal candidate for the Corporate Planning and Evaluation Advisor position, you will possess:
- Strong organizational, time and project coordination and prioritization skills to effectively balance multiple priorities with large amounts of information and details across concurrent projects.
- Strong interpersonal skills and capability to work independently or in a multi-disciplinary team environment and motivate others to accept and support change, as the situation requires.
- Experience building and maintaining effective and productive relationships, teams, collaborations, and partnerships while balancing stakeholder interests with Ministry requirements.
- Experience in accurate and reliable written and verbal communication with diverse audiences including formal written communication.
- Understanding of the Ministry's outcomes, strategies, performance metrics and organizational structure.
- Knowledge of government functions, accountability frameworks, structures, and systems especially business planning processes, best practices and deliverables including government planning and reporting standards, and decision processes.
- Understanding of overall dynamic government direction and policies, and public administration practices that drive socioeconomic and other benefits to Albertans.

Qualifications
Minimum Recruitment Standard for Program Services 4 classification:
University graduation (4 Years) in a related field plus 4 years progressively responsible related experience; or equivalent as described below.
Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:
- 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
- 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.
Related diplomas or degrees including but not limited to the following fields will be considered:
- Public Administration
- Economics
- Sociology
- Clinical Research
- Statistics
- Political Science
- Business Administration
- Natural, Social or Environmental Sciences
- Legal and Financial Administration
Assets will be considered as follows:
- Thorough understanding of legal and government processes and structures
- Evaluator Designation

This position is located in the John G. O’Donoghue Building, Edmonton, Alberta, and works a 36.25-hour week, Monday to Friday (8:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.).
Flexible start/end times will be considered.
