Role Responsibilities
The Ministry of Service Alberta and Red Tape Reduction is looking for a Contract Specialist.
The Contract Specialist is responsible for reviewing all procurement and contracting activities. This includes assessing whether these activities comply with established processes, guidelines and applicable trade agreements. The Contract Specialist also conducts audits, investigations and prepares comprehensive reports to support management decision-making.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
- Reviewing contract documentation submitted by Ministry program areas.
- Continuously evaluate, recommend, and implement updates to the Ministry's contracting policies, including the Contract for Services policy and 1GX standardization processes.
- Identify contracts that may contravene with the Ministry's and/or Government of Alberta's contracting policies and processes.
- Accurate and timely preparation of contract reporting for the Ministry.
- Support the transfer of contracting activities in and out of the Ministry due to organizational restructuring.
- Respond to Office of the Auditor General and Corporate Internal Audit Service inquiries.
- Work together with Manager and Contract Management Unit team members to ensure workloads are evenly distributed.

Qualifications
Required:
- University graduation in a related field plus some related experience required; or equivalent as described below.
Equivalency: Related diploma plus 3 years directly related experience.
Assets:
- Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) designation is an asset.
- Experience working in SAP S4Hana and Ariba as well as technical tools such as Share point, Power BI, MS office and other AI tools.
