Alberta Teaching Profession Commission (ATPC)
The Education Act provides the statutory authority for the Alberta Teaching Profession Commission and the appointment of an arm's length Commissioner to oversee teacher and teacher leader conduct and competency complaints for the profession. This process applies to all teacher and teacher leaders under the Education Act (the Act).
The Alberta Teaching Profession Commission oversees a new model, which came into force on January 1, 2023, for teacher and teacher leader disciplinary matters, which brought Alberta in line with best practices used in comparable provinces and other regulated professions. The Alberta Teaching Profession Commission protects students and enhances accountability and transparency for disciplinary matters as a regulated profession.

About the Role
The Compliance Coordinator is a key member of the Alberta Teachers’ Professional Conduct Commission team, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and supporting the integrity of Alberta’s teaching profession. This position requires exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage sensitive information with discretion.
You will work closely with legal counsel, professional associations, and internal leadership to coordinate complaint processes, maintain accurate records, and provide high-level administrative support. Your contributions will directly impact operational efficiency and uphold public confidence in education oversight.
What You will Do
- Provide administrative and case management support for complaint processes.
- Organize and prepare legal documents, track deadlines, and maintain accurate digital filing systems.
- Coordinate meetings, manage governance schedules, and liaise with stakeholders including legal counsel and professional associations.
- Recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness.

Qualifications
High school diploma in a related field and four years of related experience.
Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:
- 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
- 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.
The position requires experience and advanced knowledge and thorough understanding of:
- Administrative Professional Diploma.
- Legal/Paralegal Assistant Certificate / Diploma.
- Minimum 4 years experience directly related experience.
- Extensive experience working with the Microsoft Office suite of applications.
- Highly development written and verbal communication skills, including note taking, editing and proofreading.
The following are considered assets to the position:
- Experience supporting legal and/or quasi judicial proceedings.
- Experience working within statutory/legislative frameworks.
- Experience within the Government of Alberta, working knowledge of GOA procedures and systems.

This is a full-time temporary position till Nov 2026, working 36.25 hours per week, Monday to Friday.
Working location is 8th floor, Petwin Tower 10707 – 100 Avenue NW, Edmonton.
