APS Communications leads internal communications, it supports the President of Treasury Board and Minister of Finance, Public Service Commissioner, Deputy Minister of Executive Council, and works closely with Communications and Public Engagement to ensure communications in the APS are coordinated, effective, and aligned. It also oversees the development, delivery and evaluation of APS-wide engagement initiatives that underpin an engaged workforce.
Role Responsibilities
You will report to a manager and work closely with and provide advice to government leaders. You will be responsible for providing professional internal communications counsel under tight deadlines. As a senior communications professional, you work with a large degree of independence. You will provide strategic communications advice and planning on government priorities, programs, reorganizations and support with speaking notes and all-staff communications such as emails, webinars, and newsletters.
You will support strategic communications planning and implementation of government priorities and ensure alignment with external communications. You will coordinate strategic communications initiatives to support engagement, recognition, diversity and inclusion and organizational changes. You will also coordinate product development and are responsible for ensuring quality control and navigating approvals. Your ability to generate and tell stories through multiple channels will be an asset in this position.

Qualifications
Requirement:
- University Degree or diploma in public relations, communications, journalism, or a related discipline plus 4 years progressively responsible related experience in public relations/communications or equivalency.
- Experience with media relations and issues management techniques
- Experience drafting and implementing strategic communications plans for large, complex organizations.
- Experience providing communications advice to senior leaders in an organization.
- Experience planning content, writing for and using the web for professional communications in a workplace setting.
Assets:
- 2 or more years of internal communications experience in a large and dynamic public sector organization
- Experience with communications project management
- Experience writing and publishing articles and/or news releases for an organization.
