APS Communications and Employee Engagement leads internal communications, employee engagement, and diversity and inclusion initiatives for the Alberta Public Service (APS), and leads external communications for the Public Service Commission (PSC).
It supports the President of Treasury Board and Minister of Finance, Public Service Commissioner, Deputy Minister of Executive Council, and works closely with Communications and Public Engagement to ensure communications in the APS are coordinated, effective, and aligned. It also oversees the development, delivery and evaluation of APS-wide engagement initiatives that underpin an engaged workforce.
Role
You will report to a manager and work closely with and provide advice to government leaders. You will be responsible for providing professional communications counsel under tight deadlines. As a senior communications professional, you work with a large degree of independence. You will provide strategic communications advice and planning on government issues, priorities, and programs and support with all-staff communications such as emails, speaking notes and newsletter article, and other internal and external communications tactics.
You will coordinate strategic communications initiatives to support engagement, recognition, diversity and inclusion, employee policy awareness and organizational changes. You will also responsible for coordinating product development, ensuring quality and navigating approvals. Your ability to think critically, problem solve and generate and tell stories through multiple channels will be an asset in this position.
Qualifications
Requirements:
- University Degree or diploma in public relations, communications, journalism or a related discipline plus 4 years progressively responsible related experience in public relations/communications or equivalency.
- Experience drafting and implementing strategic communications plans for large, complex organizations
- Experience writing and publishing articles and/or news releases for an organization.
Assets:
- Internal communications experience in a large and dynamic public sector organization.
- Experience providing communications advice to senior leaders in an organization
- Experience planning content, writing for and using the web for professional communications in a workplace setting.
- Experience with media relations and issues management techniques.

Salary
$2,716.64 to $3,550.90 biweekly ($70,904 to $92,678/yearly)
Notes
Candidates with lesser qualifications may be considered at a lower classification and salary. This competition may be used to fill future vacancies.

This position works out of the Peace Hills Trust Building, located at 10011 109 street. Potential for remote (hybrid) work days.
