Role Responsibilities

The Clinical Policy Analyst reports to the Project Manager and plays a vital role in providing clinical expertise, policy analysis, and support to the work of the OCMOH.  

 

This position requires a motivated individual with sound judgement, superior organizational skills, political acumen, leadership, critical thinking, and strong written and verbal communication skills, who can work both independently with minimal supervision as well as part of a collaborative team. Key Responsibilities:

  • Applying health protection, communicable disease and immunization related research and knowledge to developing public health policies
  • Researching, analyzing, and summarizing available evidence on existing and emerging public health issues from a variety of sources, including academic sources, grey literature, and social media
  • Respond to correspondence and requests from the public, other departments to the Minister, Deputy Minister, and Chief Medical Officer of Health

Qualifications

University degree in Nursing and a minimum of three (3) years of related experience is required, as well as having a current registration in good standing with an Alberta professional college as required by the Health Professions Act.

 

Equivalencies: 

  • Diploma related to the position assignment and five (5) years of related experience. Must be a regulated member of the appropriate college as required by the Health Professions Act.
  • Pharmacist: University graduation in Pharmacy. Must be a regulated member of the appropriate college as required by the Health Professions Act.

 

Preference will be given to candidates who have the following experience:

  • Public Health care experience
  • Advanced knowledge of clinical expertise in public health and an understanding of Alberta’s health care system, health legislation (e.g. Public Health Act), funding of health care and health service delivery
  • Experience in immunization and/or communicable disease programs.
  • Knowledge of current public health issues, trends, and technologies.
  • Experience managing and directing complex projects
  • Experience researching areas supporting program or policy development

Hours of Work

  • 7.25 Daily Hours
  • 36.25 Weekly Hours
  • 8:15AM to 4:30PM (Monday to Friday)
