Role

The Corporate Internal Audit Services (CIAS) area works to improve the efficiency, economy and accountability of government and programs. Reporting administratively to the Controller, and functionally to the Internal Audit Committee chaired by the Deputy Minister of Treasury Board and Finance, the Chief Internal Auditor will ensure a coordinated and disciplined approach to internal audits for the Government of Alberta. Working closely with senior management, you will evaluate and make recommendations to improve risk management, controllership, accountability and governance processes, which contribute to overall government business objectives.  Integrating the complex needs of multiple stakeholders, and leading, coaching and developing staff are key in this role. 

 


Qualifications

As the successful candidate, you bring extensive related senior management experience, strengths in internal audit practices. Strong knowledge of risk management and government practices and proven abilities to develop and implement financial controls that support accountability and risk management frameworks. Your background also includes managing financial and human resources, technology and information management systems. Your demonstrated leadership, consultation and negotiation skills are critical in developing effective client relationships and building strong teams.  A Certified Internal Auditor or other audit-related or accounting designation is preferred. Equivalencies will be considered. 

 


Salary
$5,082.46 - 6,679.30 bi-weekly ($132,652 - $ 174,329 yearly)
