The Ministry of Municipal Affairs assists municipalities in providing well-managed, collaborative, and accountable local government to Albertans. Our main responsibilities are:
• Funding supports for municipalities
• A system that strives to ensure appropriate safety standards for the construction and maintenance of buildings and equipment
• Protections for new home buyers and required licensing for home builders
• Province-wide support for access to public library services for Albertans
• Management of about 2.6 million acres of public land in the province's three Special Areas

Role Responsibilities
We are currently looking for a Certification and Exam Coordinator to join the Alberta Firefighter Certification Program (AFCP) within the Technical & Corporate Services Division, ministry of Municipal Affairs.
Reporting to the Manager, AFCP, the Certification and Exam Coordinator will maintain, monitor, and enforce the policies and procedures for all evaluation, certification, and accreditation documents.
As a Certification and Exam Coordinator, you will also provide support to all provincial fire departments, industry emergency services, and educational institution training programs by processing applications, creating, monitoring, scoring and reporting for evaluations and certifications to achieve internationally recognized firefighter certification.
Responsibilities:
The main responsibilities of this position are (but not limited to):
- Evaluation Management - generating exams, monitoring and maintaining exam security, ensuring quality assurance and improvement processes meet program and accrediting organization expectations.
- Evaluation Application Processing – functioning as a team lead to ensure application processes are followed, maintaining the exam tracking system, and processing evaluation packages within program timelines.
- Evaluation Processing – evaluation scanning and mark entry in learning management system, assisting candidates to access marks, creating invoices.
- Monitoring and enforcing all exam/evaluation process to meet security and integrity expectations.
- Certification - reviewing certificate applications, communicating results, creating invoices, and reviewing certification tracking payments.
- Administration - administrating, managing, reporting, and generating all certification related documents and processes as required for accrediting board audits/ reviews.
- Representing the AFCP team, department, and ministry in communications and activities with internal and external departments, organizations, and stakeholders.
- Leading, coordinating, and participating in special projects/assignments assigned by the manager.

Qualifications
Requirements:
- High School Diploma
- Plus, 3 years progressively responsible directly related experience in certification and examination administration.
- Experience working with learning management systems. (Moodle preferred)
Assets:
Preference will be given to candidates with.
- A certification or diploma in Office Administration.
- Proficiency in various software applications including MS Office (Word, Excel, Power point) Outlook, Microsoft Teams, LXR Test Software with OMR(Scantron) or similar software, Adobe (reader, writer).
- Experience working with service based provincial programs.
- Experience working with accreditation organizations.
- Experience working with diverse stakeholders, maintaining effective long-term relationships, and appropriately dealing with sensitive and confidential issues.
- Experience in facilitation, coaching, and mentoring.
- Experience in invoicing, evaluation, and assessment related to exams and certifications.
- Experience in writing and developing statistical and operational reports and drafting correspondence for senior management and stakeholders.

- We have one (1) permanent, full-time position available, working 36.25 hours per week, Monday to Friday (8:15 am – 4:30 pm).
