Service Alberta and Red Tape Reduction’s Personal Property Registry (PPR), Business Support and Common Business Number (CBN) Hub is responsible for:

 

Registering Alberta personal property liens and judgements as well as providing business support to users on the registration process and performing searches; maintenance, enhancement and process changes to the key registry systems Vital Statistics System (VISTAS), Corporate Registry System (CORES), Alberta Personal Property Registry Electronic System (APPRES) and associated applications (e.g.,Online Birth Registry (OBR), Multi-Jurisdictional Registry Access Service (MRAS), National Routing System (NRS); and An Alberta wide program, to serve as the Alberta government hub for sharing comprehensive corporate information with participating government ministries, municipalities, and other public agencies as well as partnering with the Canada Revenue Agency on the Common Business Number.

The Business and Vital Event Registries unit is responsible for delivering critical and time sensitive services to Albertans and other extra-provincial stakeholders. The business support unit is responsible for maintaining and enhancing business processes and system interfaces that allow for the delivery of those services.

 

Everyday there is an Albertan that requires a birth certificate for travel, or a lien check before purchasing a vehicle, or to incorporate a new business. These are just a few examples of critical services that are dependent on the stability and smooth functioning of the system processes and applications that make their delivery possible. It is the responsibility of this position to oversee these key applications and the teams supporting them, as well as to strategically plan for future improvements.

 

Reporting to the Manager of PPR, Business Support and CBN Hub, you will be responsible for:

  • Data administration and quality control of the CORES and APPRES system and associated sub-systems.
  • Business systems problem analysis and resolution.
  • Involvement in the planning, research, development and implementation of system enhancements and new systems releases.
  • Participating in Acceptance Testing of systems enhancements; corrective changes and new module releases; and participate in all Corporate Registry and Personal Property projects involving system analysis, changes, and enhancements to the Corporate Registry System (CORES) and the Alberta Personal Property Registry Electronic System ( APPRES) associated sub-systems.
  • Ensuring system security and administration of related processes.
  • Supporting cross-jurisdictional work to understand and facilitate the transfer of data between jurisdictions, including participating on committees and working groups to support ongoing Branch-level and Divisional work on registry systems and maintaining internal and external stakeholder relationships.
  • Providing internal and external support services to end-users of the CORES and APPRES associated sub-systems network.
  • Experience managing competing projects and priorities within tight timelines.
  • Effective facilitation, presentation, written and verbal skills with the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical personnel.
  • Identify and evaluate solution paths; in decision making by making similar discoveries and evaluation of alternatives.
  • Make timely and well-informed decisions, while balancing risks, and ability to solve problems quickly and effectively.

Qualifications

University graduation in any of the following: Public Administration, Arts, Business, or a related degree, no experience is required.

 

Equivalencies will be considered: one year of education for one year of experience; or one year of experience for one year of education.

Preference will be given to candidates with the following:

 

  • Experience as or with registry agents, Service Alberta Incident and server/network support, corporate registry management, specialists and data processing contractors is preferred.

 

The following will be considered assets:

 

  • Extensive and comprehensive experience working with the methods and structure of CORES and APPRES
  • Experience providing expertise in interpreting and enforcing legislation.
  • Experience surrounding the development, structuring and implementation of procedural and system enhancements/changes.
  • Experience in providing internal and external end user support and system ID management.
  • Experience working with and providing support for many stakeholders.

 

Technical Skill

 

  • Comprehensive knowledge of the current Acts, Regulations, policies, and procedures pertaining to the business of Corporate Registry and Personal Property.
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of all systems, and their interfaces.
  • A highly proficient understanding of, and experience with, System Development Lifecycle and Methodologies.
  • Expert level knowledge of desktop technologies, office automation tools, web and client server system applications and terminology.
