The Business Partner team provides vendor management services to Ministries, thereby ensuring compliance with service levels and quality controls to mitigate risks to Government of Alberta (GoA)

Your responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):
- Create, update, and maintain Business Partner (BP) records in GoA’s financial system (1GX) with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
- Review and validate submitted documentation to ensure completeness, legitimacy, and compliance with established accounting polices and standards.
- Conduct thorough research to confirm legal entity names, business registrations, addresses, tax information, banking details, and related documentation.
- Investigate discrepancies and determine appropriate action to maintain BP data integrity.
- Process BP set-ups, changes, and approvals in accordance with internal controls, policies, and ministry requirements.
- Verify and manage banking information, including support for EFT, ACH, and wire payment requests, ensuring all required approvals are obtained.
- Apply and manage payment blocks and BP blocks when required to mitigate risk and support accurate payment processing.
- Analyze BP relationships, including parent/subsidiary structures and permitted payee information, and update records accordingly.
- Respond to high-volume inquiries from ministries and internal stakeholders, providing guidance, information, and issue resolution in a timely and professional manner.
- Contribute to continuous improvement by supporting process reviews, special projects, participate in testing and training for team members and ministries.

Qualifications
High School Diploma with 3 years of related experience (for example, Accounts Payable, general accounting)

Preference will be given to candidates with the following:
- Experience in financial operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, or vendor management
- A general understanding of accounting principles and practices
- Experience using the Government of Alberta’s 1GX system, particularly modules related to accounts payable or vendor management
- Working knowledge of accounts payable processes and requirements
- Understanding of accounts payable procedures, controls, and compliance requirements
- Knowledge of Government of Alberta business processes and practices
The following will be considered assets:
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Experience using common enterprise systems such as SharePoint, Adobe Acrobat.
- Demonstrated organizational, time-management, and prioritization abilities supported by excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to follow established policies, procedures, and standardized administrative processes
- Experience delivering customer service in public-facing or internal support roles, including working in high-volume or deadline-driven environments
- Experience handling confidential or sensitive information, including document control and records management practices.

- This position reports 36.25 hours of work per week, Monday to Friday.
- This position is located at John E. Brownlee Building 10365 – 97th Street, Edmonton, AB.
- This position must be worked full-time in office.
