The Strategy, Support and Integrated Initiatives division provides strategic and integrated policy and project services and functions for Justice. The division’s focus centers on cross-divisional and cross-ministry projects such as strategic policy initiatives, business transformations and Justice Digital.

Role Responsibilities

Are you ready to make an impact at the heart of organizational transformation? As a Business Analyst reporting to the Director, Projects, and Support, you play a key part in the evaluation of organizations' current systems and processes. You will be responsible for working with project teams and business units to analyze business needs, provide recommendations, and develop and propose solutions to address challenges. 

Key responsibilities for the position will include:
 

  • Supporting the Director, Projects and Support, in achieving the mandate and goals of the unit.
  • Providing high quality professional services from the business analysis discipline, including business process re-engineering, requirements lifecycle management, timely and considerate stakeholder engagement and management, elaboration of business rules, validation of solutions, and giving voice to the business in the development of solutions to identified priorities.
  • Collaborating and integration with other SSII units such as Data Analytics, Service Innovation and Digitization, and Research and Evaluation.
  • Maintaining and enhancing the templates and frameworks for the completion of business analysis outcomes.
  • Providing leadership/guidance to team members and business areas through leading practices that support informed decision making and strategic development. 
     

In these roles, you will lead stakeholder analysis and needs assessments to support project delivery, requiring a deep understanding of both internal and external impacts. You'll initiate and drive service and change requests, engaging continuously with teams to scope requirements and identify effective solutions. You'll foster collaboration and positive relationships across groups, even in challenging circumstances, to build commitment and achieve desired results. Additionally, you'll need to stay agile, adapting swiftly to high-priority system changes in a rapidly evolving technological landscape.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirement
 

  • University graduation in a related field such as Information Technology, Computer Science, Business Analysis, Project Management.
  • PLUS 4 years minimum related experience in business analyst work. 


Assets: 
 

  • Project management experience.
  • Certification as a business analyst with the IIBA (International Institute of Business Analysis) or PMI (Project Management Institute).
  • Experience managing and engaging with diverse groups of stakeholders.
  • Experience supporting business transformation redesign and change management activities.
  • Experience facilitating, including training, and presenting.
  • Familiarity with developing and implementing governance models, frameworks, and best practice standards to support large-scale business initiatives.


The following equivalencies may be considered:
 

  • A related Masters plus a minimum of 2 years related experience.
  • A related two-year diploma plus a minimum of 6 years related experience.
  • A related one-year certificate plus a minimum of 7 years related experience.
  • No post-secondary education plus a minimum of 8 years related experience.

Notes

  • Full time permanent position located in Edmonton (Oxbridge Place). 
  • Hours of work: 7.25 hours per day / 36.25 hours per week (Monday – Friday).
  • The successful candidate will be required to undergo a security screening.
