The Ministry of Public Safety and Emergency Services has significant oversight and involvement in the public security and emergency services through its various divisions and operations. The department is responsible for the administration of law enforcement, correctional services, policing and police oversight and public safety. 

 

The Ministry supports crime prevention and restorative justice programs, as well as programs and services to support victims of crime, including those affected by domestic violence and human trafficking. The Ministry also coordinates large scale emergency and disaster prevention, mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery programs and initiatives.

Role Responsibilities

Reporting to the Executive Director of Custody Operations you will be responsible for planning, business functions, and the overall support of operations and administration for the Custody Operations Branch. You will help manage human resource processes, head-office budget preparation, and accommodation needs. You will be involved in ongoing meets to ensure the branches operational goals are met. In this role you will also help support 14 Directors and ensure their staff are appropriately supported in all needs required to complete their role. 
 

Additional Responsibilities include: 

  • Financial planning and management 
  • Directing, mentoring, and coaching administrative staff 
  • Assessing training needs, creating orientations and cross training plans 
  • Effectively managing and preparing accommodation and facility requirements
  • Ensuring effective, efficient, and accurate support services to internal and external stakeholders

Qualifications

  • A high school diploma 
  • Four years of related experience (Executive Support, Issues Coordinator, Executive Assistant, etc.) 


Equivalencies will be considered on a one for one basis 

The following will be considered assets: 

  • Post-secondary education (diploma or degree) in a related field (Business Administration, Management, Finance, Office Administration). 
  • Experience working with Government systems such as the Action Request Tracking System (ARTS), Justice Online Information Network (JOIN), Offender Records and Correctional Administration (ORCA). 
  • Experience working on budget forecasting and writing briefing notes.
