The Public Service Commission (PSC) provides human resources services to the Government of Alberta. The Leadership and Talent Management (LTM) Branch is responsible for cultivating leadership capacity at all levels of the Alberta Public Service (APS), with a particular focus on executive and senior manager talent management and development. The branch supports alignment with APS priorities, fosters a culture of continuous learning, and supports a culture of continuous learning and leadership excellence, aligning talent strategies with organizational goals.

As the Executive Assistant / Branch Administrator, you’ll be at the heart of a newly established branch, supporting multi-disciplinary teams and high-impact programs. You’ll manage core business functions—like budgeting, contracts, payroll, records, and accommodations—while also coordinating high-priority meetings with senior leaders and supporting events that shape the future of leadership in the APS.

What You’ll Be Doing
Strategic Support & Coordination
- Keep the branch aligned with department standards and expectations.
- Manage requests, meetings, and communications with precision.
- Monitor progress on key initiatives, track deadlines, and follow up to ensure momentum is maintained across projects and priorities.
- Proactively manage operational details and system workflows that enables timely decision-making.
Records & Information Management
- Design and maintain secure, accessible databases and records systems.
- Lead onboarding and training for new and existing team members.
- Ensure information is organized, accurate, and easy to find.
Contract & Financial Administration
- Administer contracts and procurement in line with GoA policies.
- Track spending, manage cost recovery, and forecast budgets.
- Stay current on 1GX systems and support others to self-serve.

Program & Event Support
- Coordinate logistics for variety of leadership development programs.
- Book venues, prepare materials, and monitor registration activity and flag issues early to ensure smooth execution and timely follow-up.
- Ensure events run smoothly and participants feel supported.
Consultation & Relationship Building
- Act as a key contact for vendors, stakeholders, and internal clients.
- Conduct research and prepare materials to support strategic initiatives.
- Build strong relationships across the APS and beyond.

Qualifications
Minimum recruitment standard: High school diploma and three years of related experience
Equivalency: Directly related education or experience is considered on the basis of:
- 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
- 1 year of experience for 1 year of education
Role requirements:
- Must have working knowledge of GOA corporate systems (1GX, ARTS, EPS, etc.).
- Must have knowledge of government finance, including Procurement Accountability Framework.
- Must have knowledge of government organization structures.
