We are seeking a dynamic Supervisor to spearhead independent, risk-based assurance and advisory services for a diverse portfolio of departments. As our supervisor, you will play a pivotal role in enhancing the government's effectiveness in risk management, control, and governance processes. 

Key Responsibilities include:
1. Lead and oversee audits for departments, ensuring timely completion and adherence to professional standards.
2. Serve as a primary point of contact for department directors on audits, fostering positive relationships and delivering exceptional service.
3. Provide direction and mentorship to audit staff or contractors on assigned projects, facilitating their professional development.
4. Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance the quality and impact of our assurance and advisory services.

Qualifications

University degree in a related field is required, supplemented by a professional designation and at least three years of extensive audit experience that includes managing staff.

The following are considered assets:
•    Proficiency in application of internal audit standards (assurance and advisory standards).
•    Strong communication and project management skills.
•    Knowledge of public sector operations.

•    The following skills/knowledge are considered desirable:
•    Professional accreditation in internal audit and risk management (e.g. Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), Certification in Risk Management Assurance (CRMA), Canadian Risk Management Designation (CRM), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE)).
•    Expertise in data analytics (interpreting data to find trends and solve problems)
•    Other relevant expertise or designations, such as CISA, with knowledge of COSO, ISO, and COBIT frameworks.
•    Knowledge of process improvement approaches and application to improve efficiency and effectiveness of processes.

Notes

This is a permanent, full-time position working 36.25 hours per week, Monday to Friday.

Currently, the Government of Alberta offers a hybrid work schedule that employees can choose to work from home for two set days per week. Employees working from home must be working from an Alberta location. 

This position will be located in the Terrace Building in Edmonton. 

Candidates with lesser qualifications may be considered at a lower classification and salary. This competition may be used to fill future roles at the same or lower classifications.

The final candidate for this position will be asked to undergo pre-employment checks.
