Roles

Reporting to the Deputy Minister, Primary and Preventative Health Services, the Assistant Deputy Minister, Primary Care and Preventative Health Care will lead a team dedicated to promoting a high performing primary health care system and demonstrating the results for investment of resources in this part of the health system. This role also oversees public health policy and will lead work to advance PPHS’s preventative care mandate. The ADM will oversee four branches: Primary and Preventative Care, Strategy and Policy; Primary Care System Oversight; Primary Care Transformation and Partnerships; and Public Health Policy and Standards.

 

The team’s responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and maintaining policy and standards related to access, core services, team-based care, and public health.
  • Developing opportunities to enhance integration, interdisciplinary coordination, and streamline efficiencies in developing and sustaining strong partnerships, programs, and the provision of wraparound services in the community.
  • Monitoring the performance of primary health care delivery organizations and preparing system-level reports about progress being made toward key outcomes.

 

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, Primary and Preventative Health Services, the Assistant Deputy Minister, Health and Well-Being Systems Transformation will lead a team responsible for completing health system refocusing. The role will lead work to integrate the delivery of health services and work with other partners to improve the well-being of Albertans. The ADM will oversee five branches: Integrated Health Services Planning; Project Management and System Governance; System Transformation Strategy and Implementation; System Value and Innovation and Change Management and Internal Communications.

 

The team’s responsibilities will include:

  • work with health, social support, and public safety partners to integrate care and supports for Albertans.
  • support oversight minister responsibilities such as system governance and integration; and
  • Overseeing system value and innovation and healthy system planning.

 

Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer, Primary and Preventative Health Services, the Assistant Deputy Minister, Strategy, Support, Integrated Services, and Rural Health will lead a team responsible for overseeing Strategic Policy and Planning, the Advisory Council Secretariat and Rural Health. The ADM will oversee four branches: Advisory Council Secretariat; Agency and Intergovernmental Relations; Strategic Policy and Planning; and Rural Health.

 

The team’s responsibilities will include:

  • Provide strategic advice to senior leadership on the integration, coordination alignment and development of health policy and legislative processes and documents and agenda planning to senior leadership. 
  • Leading the ministry’s policy agenda and ensuring departmental capacity to delivery on the agenda, including coordinating Red Tape Reduction and processes on behalf of Health.
  • Identifying priority opportunities and barriers to enhancing health care service delivery, with a focus on addressing rural health challenges. such as access to health care professionals.

 

 

Qualifications

These roles demand an influential and highly credible leader with extensive and diverse executive management experience in complex multi-stakeholder environments. You bring demonstrated expertise in fiscal management, leading complex programs, operations and policy development within a large, public organization. Your background also includes proven success partnering effectively with stakeholders on initiatives in dynamic, environments, to achieve system-wide results. Your experience working within the public sector has strengthened your political acumen, communication and negotiation skills. You are known to build trusting, collaborative relationships with colleagues or stakeholder groups to identify solutions. Your ability to empower teams and influence innovation, combined with capacity for facilitating change will support your success. You leverage strong system thinking and shared problem solving to remain open to innovative solutions and include others in ideation. Your leadership style is resilient, collaborative, and nurtures continued growth of your team. An understanding of health system issues and priorities in Alberta and other jurisdictions is an asset and a related degree is preferred, combined with relevant executive leadership experience.

 

 

Salary

$7,043.73 - $9,244.09 bi-weekly ($183,841.35 to $241,270.750 yearly).
