Role
Reporting to the Deputy Minister, you will provide strategic leadership to the Lands Division that is accountable for developing, implementing and evaluating legislation, policies, initiatives and programs associated with Alberta Crown Lands. This includes programs such as the Land Trust Grant program, Watershed Resiliency and Restoration program, and the Wetland Replacement program. This role will take a consistent and integrated approach to lead the management of Crown Land across a full range of uses desired by Albertans including land use planning, sub regional land planning and traditional land use. Developing and maintaining relationships across government, as well with municipalities, First Nations, interest groups and other government jurisdictions will be a key responsibility of the position. The position is also Stewardship Commissioner under the Alberta Land Stewardship Act.
Qualifications
As a seasoned senior leader, you have extensive executive experience in strategic policy, program and regulatory development and enhancing stakeholder relationships. With an understanding of environment and land use management and associated interconnection between economic, environmental and social outcomes, you have advanced critical thinking skills and are known for your ability to collaborate, influence and lead change. You are recognized for delivering positive results with your teams and diverse stakeholder groups. Strong systems-thinking, project management, proven consultation and negotiation abilities, combined with a high degree of political acumen is required.
A related degree is preferred.
Salary
$6,035.80 – 7,921.30 bi-weekly ($157,534 – 206,745 annually)
