The Alberta Public Service (APS) has a One Finance approach for financial services delivery; this includes how finance delivers and supports strategic decision-making in order to support effective and informed policy and program decisions. With tight integration between financial service delivery and the implementation of enabling technologies, it is essential that Treasury Board and Finance and the entire Finance Community utilize a modernized finance’s service delivery approach in order to provide required strategic and operational supports and be responsive to business partner expectations.

Role

Reporting to the Deputy Minister, the ADM SFO will be responsible for the financial accountability framework for the ministry portfolio(s) and coordinate and facilitate the delivery of financial services to the department and related Public Sector Agencies.  You will be the primary financial advisor to the Minister, Deputy Minister, the Executive Team and various program areas for financial strategy, planning and operationalization in diverse business contexts.  You will provide strategic leadership to all fiscal management activities within the portfolio inclusive of budget oversight, planning and reporting.  You will provide effective leadership of staff and advocacy with clients to ensure a shared vision of financial governance and strategy, contributing to a culture aligned to the larger “one government” vision by providing the best financial information and advice to support government’s decision-making bodies, in particular Treasury Board and Finance.

 

 

Qualifications

Your background includes significant related executive leadership experience with strengths in financial management and fiscal activities within a large, public-sector organization.  You have strong political, business and financial acumen supported by strategic analyses, the ability to make sound recommendations, as well as effective decision-making skills.  Strong communication and stakeholder relations will be key in balancing varying perspectives in a highly complex and changing business environment.  Your proven executive leadership to inspire teams to achieve success is essential.  Related post-secondary education is required and a recognized accounting designation is strongly preferred.

 

 

Salary

$6,403.39 to $8,403.71 bi-weekly.  ($167,128 - $219,336 / annum)
