Role
Reporting to the Deputy Minister, the Chief Operating Officer, Strategy and Market Access (COO, SAMA) you will support the Deputy Minister with key ministry strategic objectives ensuring successful delivery on ministry mandate and priorities, including regular and ongoing liaison with the Deputy Minister’s, Premier’s and Minister’s offices on critical operational and policy matters. As the COO, SAMA, you will provide strategic leadership and planning, cross-department integration, regulatory reviews related to energy market access, energy information and analysis, and natural gas strategies and initiatives. As the COO, SAMA you will lead a review, and ongoing continual improvement, of ministry programs and operations to identify areas of inefficiency and redundancy to align programs. This will involve working closely with leaders within and across departments, to find opportunities to create efficiency and eliminate redundancy, horizontally across government, with applications vertically in the department. Your exceptional communication skills will support your work with both internal and external stakeholders and your relationship building skills will be critical to lead department wide programs and initiatives.
Qualifications
Success in this role calls for a progressive leader with a background that includes extensive related executive management leadership experience. You bring a strong understanding of government processes and policy, strategic business and operational planning, and complex project management. You bring demonstrated experience understanding the energy sector, complex cross-ministry or cross-departmental initiatives, as well as an ability to work effectively on high-profile issues with complex stakeholders to manage diverse expectations and interests. Exceptional communication skills and demonstrated political acumen will situate you well for success in this role. As a respected leader with experience motivating and engaging staff, you bring demonstrated strengths in building collaborative networks across complex stakeholder groups. You also bring an ability to influence and motivate without authority. A related degree is preferred.
Salary Rate
$6,403.39 to $8,403.71 bi-weekly. ($167,128 - $219,336 yearly)
