Role Responsibilities

As a primary source of knowledge on asset management within the Civil Forfeiture Office (CFO), the Asset Management Coordinator (AMC) acts independently and exercises excellent organization and judgement in managing a wide variety of assets in diverse circumstances. The AMC initiates and acts on all issues relating to asset management and locating and serving documents on respondents and is responsible for financial accountability and reporting on assets subject to proceedings under the Civil Forfeiture Act. The AMC works within a framework of applicable legislation and precedents, but must identify, evaluate and implement creative options to fit unique circumstances, in a manner consistent with the policy and goals of the CFO and the Government of Alberta. The position represents the CFO to internal and external stakeholders in asset management matters.

  • Asset Management- Manage and accurately track property subject to proceedings under the Civil Forfeiture Act to keep it safe and secure, retain value, minimize associated costs and maximize proceeds from disposal

  • Identify and Oversee Service of Respondents in Court Actions- Administer and oversee the service of documents on respondents regarding proceedings under the Civil Forfeiture Act

  • Maintain Financial Records - Maintain accurate financial records relating to the restraint, management, income, expenses and disposal of property subject to proceedings under the Civil Forfeiture Act in accordance with GOA policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

  • Two-year diploma in a related field plus at least four years progressively responsible related experience; or equivalent as described.
  • Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of: 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.

Experience that would be considered an asset:

  • Understanding of civil forfeiture legislation and processes
  • Experience in providing detailed instructions to civil enforcement agencies and other service providers
  • Understanding and experience with procurement of services in compliance with government policies and procedures
  • Aptitude operating and trouble-shooting specialized computer software applications and databases, such as CaseIQ, JOIN, COMIS, CORES, SPIN2, MOVES and OSSI

Notes

  • Location: The CFO is located in central Edmonton
  • Hours of work: 7.25 hours per day/ 36.25 hours per week
  • Monday to Friday 8:15am to 4:30pm (in-person)
