The Ministry of Municipal Affairs assists municipalities in providing well-managed, collaborative, and accountable local government to Albertans.
Our main responsibilities are:
• Funding supports for municipalities
• A system that strives to ensure appropriate safety standards for the construction and maintenance of buildings and equipment
• Protections for new home buyers and required licensing for home builders
• Province-wide support for access to public library services for Albertans
• Management of about 2.6 million acres of public land in the province's three Special Areas
• Independent review and decisions on local matters by the Land and Property Rights Tribunal

Role Responsibilities
The main responsibilities of this position are (but not limited to):
1. Business Systems Support & Quality Assurance
- Plan, design, and test new and enhanced functionality in UAT and sandbox environments.
- Identify and log system issues, recommending improvements to DI property business systems.
- Manage system security and access for the CAMA application (user IDs, roles, passwords, and access requests).
- Arrange database access for authorized staff as required.
2. Assessment Roll & Information Delivery
- Coordinate and deliver annual and amended supplementary assessments and assessment rolls in compliance with the Municipal Government Act (MGA).
- Prepare stakeholder information packages, correspondence, reports, mailing labels, and supporting documentation.
- Coordinate and process Requests for Information (RFIs) to ensure compliance with legislative deadlines.
3. Stakeholder Engagement & Advisory Support
- Respond to stakeholder inquiries on assessment matters and CAMA system functionality.
- Track and log all inquiries and outgoing communications.
- Research property data using corporate registries, databases (CIPAS, ALPAS, SIMS, MS Access, Excel), AER, CER, AUC, and other resources.
4. Complaints & Appeals Support
- Gather and analyze information to support responses to complaints and appeals.
- Maintain and enhance the complaints management database.
- Assist in tracking and monitoring complaints before the Lands and Property Rights Tribunal (LPRT).

Qualifications
One-year certificate in a related field plus two years related experience; or equivalent as described.
Equivalency:
Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:
• 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
• 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.
Assets:
• Knowledge of property assessment and taxation legislation and the applicable regulation, standards and policies.
• Working knowledge of property assessment and taxation system and local government interdependencies.
• Knowledge of the department’s structure is required for appropriate routing of requests and knowing where to go for needed support.
• Knowledge of government policies and department objectives affecting the program.
• Working knowledge of the unit’s stakeholders and their needs.
• Working knowledge of municipal organizational structure and business processes.
• Strong analytical skills to interpret information streams and databases.
• Strong skills in operational database manipulation
• Strong skills in using business office software including software for word processing, spreadsheets, presentation, databases, Adobe Acrobat, data capturing tools, and e-mail (i.e. Microsoft office).
