Role Responsibilities

If so, a position in the Alberta Wildfire Coordination Centre may be an ideal seasonal position for you.
The AWCC Logistics works closely with the Provincial Duty Officer to process provincial, national, and international requests for manpower and equipment. In addition, they work with the ten (10) Forest Areas to coordinate provincial and national response to resource requests, provide information for decision-making, coordinate logistical needs, and support area logistics coordinators.
Other roles and responsibilities are:
- Coordinating the provincial, national, and international dispatch of personnel, fireline, and heavy equipment resources.
- Working with the Duty Officer and Areas to ensure communication is sent and received in a timely manner for dispatch of resources.
- Acquiring resources, as necessary from, lending agencies and completing data entry and information applicable to those agencies.
- Coordination logistical requirements as required by Wildfire Operations ie. Transportation, lodgings, and food.
- Working with Aircraft Logistics for the coordination of fixed wing aircraft as required.
- Maintaining records pertaining to personnel and equipment and completing data entry as required.
- General reporting and gathering of statistical personnel and equipment information.
- Be available for export to other Areas and/or out of province.
- Completing the duties as outlined in AWCC Support when those staff are not available.

Qualifications
The minimum requirements for this role are a high school diploma plus with two (2) years of related experience (i.e. 24-months). Candidates must be 18 years of age or older.
Directly related experience and or education is considered on a one-for-one basis.
Additional Requirements:

- Inquisitive, logical & can quickly adapt to changing circumstances.
- Ability to learn and adapt quickly to Wildfire Management software.
- Valid First Aid Certificate with CPR.
- Valid Class 5 Drivers License
- Valid Defensive Driving Certificate
- Current Driver’s Abstract - A Driver’s Abstract, showing a record of seven (7) demerits or less. Your driver’s abstract must be obtained within 30 days prior to your commencement date and presented to management before your commencement for your above stated position.
- Completion of the Par-Q and/or fitness test.
Education & Experience Preferred:
- Experience using Wildfire Management software: Fire Information Resource System (FIRES) and Dispatch.
- Proficient computer skills: Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and OneNote.
- Knowledge of the Wildfire Management program, policies, and standard operating procedures is also an asset.
- Knowledge of aircraft, equipment capabilities, and personnel resources used in wildfire suppression.
The following conditions are not required at time of application, but must be provided prior to start date:
- A valid, unrestricted Alberta Class 5 Driver’s License, or equivalent.

- A current Defensive Driving certificate.

This competition is for seasonal wage AWCC Wildfire Logistics position with weekly hours up to 36.25 and projected terms of employment from April 2025 to September 2025. Those selected for an interview are requested to bring three work-related references.
What We Offer
Wage employees receive 11.2% in addition to regular wage earnings in lieu of benefits and vacation leave:
- 5.2 percent of regular wage earnings instead of paid holidays
- 6 percent of regular wage earnings instead of annual vacation pay

About Your Work Environment:
- This requisition is recruiting for seasonal wage AWCC Support positions that work up to 36.25 hours per week.
This position may require you to work evenings and weekends to meet fire season operational needs. - Successful candidates will be provided with training.
- Estimated term of employment is from 3 to 8 months during the wildfire season, anticipated between April 2025 to October 31, 2025, dependent on operational needs.
