The Alberta Crown Prosecution Service (ACPS) prosecutes persons charged with Criminal Code, Youth Criminal Justice Act, and provincial statute offences. The ACPS promotes safe communities by vigorously prosecuting cases involving serious and violent crime and working with individuals and organizations in the community to identify and implement improved and alternative approaches to the administration of criminal justice. In addition, the ACPS develops criminal law policy for the province and supports criminal law consultation with other levels of government.

Role Responsibilities
Are You a Champion of Security, Committed to Protecting Legal Professionals and Justice? Reporting to the Director, Workforce Planning, in the Operations & Strategic Services Office (OSSO) generally and to the ADM, Alberta Crown Prosecution Service (ACPS) on divisional matters, this position is required to ensure ACPS security interests are maintained and to provide expertise, vision and direction to maintain a suitable level of security for the ACPS. In order to remain proficient, crown prosecutors and staff must be able to execute their duties without trepidation, threats or acts of intimidation. The mere perception of ineffective security could negatively impact the integrity of a criminal prosecution and the administration of justice.
In this role you will be a leader in the following:
· Ensure compliance with ACPS security protocols.
· Chair the Intimidation of Justice Official SCOPE sub-committee.
· Oversee the JOIN flagging program.
· Provide security education and facilitate training.
· Coordinate with law enforcement and Sheriffs Branch on security matters.
· Collaborate with Provincial and Federal agencies on security issues.
· Develop and implement preventative security strategies.
· Conduct physical security assessments to ensure personal safety.
· Manage information tracking and maintain confidentiality of ACPS data.
· Lead investigations, and threat assessments.
This position will participate in workplace inspections and take appropriate action to deal with any security issues; respond to and investigate concerns and complaints that are related to security and safety of ACPS staff; and participate in the investigation of injuries and accidents related to the safety and security of ACPS staff.

Qualifications
University graduation in a related field (e.g., Law Enforcement, Criminal Investigations, Crime Prevention, Security Operations). plus a minimum of 6 years of combined experience in one or more of the following areas: Law Enforcement, Criminal Investigations, Crime Prevention, Security Operations
Related experience or education may be considered as an equivalency on a one for one basis.
Preference will be given to candidates with 10 years of relevant experience.
Required:
· Valid Class 5 Alberta Drivers Licence
· Must be eligible to obtain Peace Officer Status through the Peace Officer Program.
Assets:
· Leadership role serving on an investigative team, operational or emergency planning team.
· Provider/facilitator of educational training and instruction on crime prevention, safety planning and security.
· Assessor/auditor of security requirements for victims, witnesses, or in a public sector environment.
· Occupational Health and Safety Training related to workplace security and/or residential security is preferred.
· Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) Certificate is preferred, training is acceptable.
· Threat Assessment/Risk Mitigation Training such as HCR-20 or other structured judgement tools is preferred.
Related experience or education may be considered as an equivalency on a one for one basis.
