Employment and Financial Services (EFS) Division is responsible for policy and legislative development and delivery of employment and income services including contracted employment services, career resources, and Assured Income for the Severely Handicapped (AISH), Alberta Disability Assistance Program (ADAP), Income Support (IS) and Child Support Services (CSS).

The Government of Alberta is looking for an Administrative Supervisor to provide leadership and operational oversight to a provincially dispersed virtual team supporting the Overpayment Unit within the Ministry of Assisted Living and Social Services.
This is more than an administrative leadership role. You will help shape how work gets done, support employees through change, strengthen service delivery, and contribute to the consistent and compassionate delivery of programs that directly impact Albertans.
Reporting to the Manager, you will:
- Lead, coach, mentor and develop employees while building an inclusive, respectful and high-performing team culture.
- Conduct regular one-on-one meetings, team meetings and performance discussions.
- Manage attendance, scheduling, leave requests and workforce administration.
- Identify learning needs and support onboarding, training and ongoing professional development.
- Assign, prioritize and monitor high-volume administrative workloads to ensure quality and timely service.
- Oversee administrative processes related to Income Support, AISH/ADAP, overpayments, repayment agreements, appeals and correspondence and the provincial phone line.
- Monitor quality, productivity and operational metrics and take action when improvements are needed.
- Maintain confidentiality and ensure appropriate handling of sensitive client information in accordance with FOIP requirements.
- Lead staff through policy, legislative, system and process changes.
- Identify operational challenges, develop practical solutions and support continuous improvement.
- Build strong working relationships with managers, supervisors, program staff, appeals coordinators, decision makers and other partners across the province.
- Address workplace concerns and conflicts respectfully and proactively.
- Support escalated client situations and complex administrative matters with professionalism and empathy.

Qualifications
High school diploma and four years of related experience.
Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered based on:
- 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
- 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate:
- A high school diploma supplemented by progressive supervisory experience and training in business administration, office management or human resources.
- Considerable progressive supervisory or leadership experience, preferably leading virtual or geographically dispersed teams.
- Experience working with high-volume, sensitive files, administrative processes or financial recovery activities.
- Strong Microsoft Office and collaboration-tool skills.
- Excellent workload, case and time-management abilities.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- The ability to handle confidential and sensitive information with discretion.
- Experience coaching, mentoring, training, scheduling and resolving workplace concerns in a virtual environment.
- The ability to understand and apply legislation, policies, procedures and administrative requirements.

- Hours of work are 36.25 weekly, Monday to Friday.
- The position is full-time.
- A written assessment exercise may be required as part of the interview process. This will be administered during the interview.
