The Sheriffs Branch is dedicated to promoting safe and resilient communities, performing a wide range of activities in collaboration with other law enforcement and policing partners in Alberta. In addition to the office of the Chief, there are five directorates within the Branch: Court Security Services (CSS), Fish and Wildlife Enforcement Services (FWES), Protection, Communication and Investigative Services (PCIS), Operational Support Services (OSS) and Sheriff Highway Patrol Services (SHPS).

Role Responsibilities
As the Strategic Projects Coordinator with the Alberta Sheriffs Branch, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing the planning, coordination, and execution of long-term technical and support service projects that impact branch operations. Your work will ensure that complex information management systems, business intelligence initiatives, and operational processes align with the branch’s strategic objectives, enhancing efficiency and enabling informed decision-making.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Lead strategic projects to improve operations and technology platforms.
- Manage APSA system initiatives, including planning, testing, and deployment.
- Support integration of systems like Niche Records Management System (RMS), Hexagon Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD), and SmartSquad.
- Align business processes with system capabilities and resolve workflow issues.
- Drive process improvements through analysis and standardized tools.
- Coordinate stakeholder engagement and prepare project communications.
- Supervise Strategic Intelligence Analysts, ensuring quality and collaboration.

Qualifications
University graduation in project management, business administration, information systems, public safety management or a related field, plus four (4) years progressively responsible related experience in coordinating complex projects, ideally involving technical systems or operational workflows; or equivalent as described below
Equivalencies: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:
- 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
- 1 year of experience for 1 year of education
Please note, preference will be given to candidates with experience from a law enforcement environment.
The following are considered as assets:
- Project Management Professional (PMP) designation.
- Project planning, scheduling, and milestone tracking for multi-year initiatives.
- Experience with operational platforms like APSA, Niche RMS, Hexagon CAD, SmartSquad etc..
- Analyzing business processes to identify inefficiencies and support process improvement initiatives.
- Developing documentation, templates, and user supports for operational adoption.
- Supervising and guiding teams to meet project deadlines and quality standards.
- Facilitating stakeholder engagement and managing communications across diverse operational units.

Notes
This is a full-time position working 36.25 hours a week, Monday to Friday. Potential exists for an Hours of Work Averaging Agreement. Working from either Edmonton, Calgary or Red Deer GOA offices.
An enhanced security clearance is required. Additional levels of clearance may be necessary depending on the assignment.
