Communications and Public Engagement (CPE) is the Government of Alberta’s full-service communications, public relations and marketing agency.

If so, the Government of Alberta invites you to apply for the role of Research Data Coordinator within the Public Engagement Branch of Communications and Public Engagement (CPE).

About the Role:

As a Research Data Coordinator, you will play a pivotal role in supporting quantitative and qualitative research across government. Reporting to the Assistant Director of Research, you will contribute to the design, analysis, and dissemination of public opinion research that informs Alberta’s policies and programs.

What You’ll Be Doing:

Research Support & Development

  • Assist in designing and implementing public opinion research projects.
  • Contribute to survey design and programming aligned with GoA standards.
  • Support adherence to GoA research operational policies.


Data Analysis & Reporting

  • Conduct rigorous statistical analysis of survey data using tools like SPSS or SAS.
  • Validate vendor data and ensure methodological integrity.
  • Develop reports and presentations that translate data into actionable insights.


Survey Development & Digital Engagement

  • Review and program surveys using platforms such as Opinio and EHQ.
  • Analyze survey results and create self-serve data products for ministry clients.
  • Support the GoA digital engagement platform with research expertise.


Capacity Building & Collaboration

  • Build and share a library of public opinion research techniques.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to enhance research standards.
  • Contribute to analytical networks and knowledge-sharing initiatives across government.

Qualifications

Education and Experience

  • Undergraduate degree in research, political science, public policy, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in:

o    Program evaluation and research methodology.
o    Survey design and data collection.
o    Statistical analysis using software such as SAS or SPSS.
o    Text analytics and unstructured data analysis.

Assets:

  • Experience in public opinion research.
  • Background in municipal, provincial, or federal government.


Skills and Competencies:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet tight deadlines.
  • High political acumen and sensitivity to public sector environments.
  • Proficiency in training and documentation for diverse audiences.

Notes

This posting is for one (1) temporary 8-month maternity leave coverage term. Possibility of extension up to 12-months.

Hours of Work: 36.25 hours/week or 7.25 hours/day, Monday-Friday, 8:15am-4:30pm. 

Location: Queen Elizabeth II Building, Edmonton, Alberta.
