Treasury Board Secretariat (TBS) provides timely, relevant and accurate fiscal, and capital planning analysis advice and recommendations to decision-makers including the Premier, Cabinet, Minister, Treasury Board Committee and other bodies. TBS also provides guidance to ministries on fiscal planning processes, and corporate and business planning, ministry annual reports and performance measurement. TBS coordinates and is accountable for the government's fiscal planning processes (including the annual budget and quarterly fiscal updates) and participates in year-end financial reporting, producing the Key Results and Performance Results chapters included in the Government of Alberta Annual Report, and the Final Results Year-end Report which includes the Annual Infrastructure Report.

Role Responsibilities
Join a central team in the Treasury Board Secretariat that sits at the intersection of finance, policy, and strategic planning. This role plays a key part in shaping government-wide plans and reports that support transparency and informed decision-making across Alberta.
You will support the development of ministry business plans, annual reports, and the Government of Alberta Strategic Plan by analyzing complex information, coordinating input across ministries, and preparing clear materials for senior leaders. You will provide advice, tools, and training to ministries on planning, reporting, performance measurement, and risk management, while ensuring alignment with legislation and standards. You will also manage multiple priorities, collaborate across government, and drive continuous improvement in planning and reporting practices.

Qualifications
A university degree in Public Administration, Business, Economics, Finance, Policy, or a related field supplemented by a minimum of four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in planning, reporting, policy analysis, evaluation, or government operations.
Additional requirements include:
• Strong understanding of planning and reporting processes, performance measurement, or evaluation frameworks
• Knowledge of relevant legislation (e.g., Financial Administration Act, Sustainable Fiscal Planning Act)
• Experience analyzing complex information and preparing briefings, reports, or presentations
• Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and project management skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and tight timelines
• High level of discretion when handling sensitive and confidential information
The following are considered assets:
• Experience working in government or a large public sector environment (e.g., GoA, municipal, federal, or agencies)
• Knowledge of enterprise risk management (ERM) frameworks
• Experience developing training materials or delivering workshops
• Familiarity with performance measurement and program evaluation
• Experience working with planning/reporting systems or tools
• Strong data analysis skills (Excel or reporting tools)
