The Ministry of Treasury Board and Finance focuses on accountability, financial management, human resource leadership, as well as regulation of Alberta’s financial, securities, insurance, and pensions sectors.
The Treasury Board Secretariat (TBS) Division in Treasury Board and Finance (TBF) coordinates and is accountable for the government’s fiscal planning processes, including leading the development of the Government of Alberta's (GoA) annual budget TBS undertakes information gathering, synthesis and analysis to support Treasury Board's fiscal and general management decisions for the GoA. TBS is also accountable for the development of major fiscal documents and supporting evidence-based fiscal decision-making under the Financial Administration Act and the Sustainable Fiscal Planning and Reporting Act. The division is accountable for secretariat support to Treasury Board.

Role
Reporting to the Senior Assistant Deputy Minister, Treasury Board Secretariat, the Executive Director, Capital Planning will provide leadership to long-term strategic capital planning framework for the financial commitment for capital infrastructure. You will oversee the implementation of comprehensive capital planning policies, processes and standards used by all ministries, develop strategies, and report on the government’s overall capital plan through the Annual Infrastructure Report. Your team will work collaboratively with all ministries on their capital planning requirements for both government owned as well as supported organizations’ infrastructure including reviewing capital planning requests with the goal to support their ability to meet their priorities and mandates. You will ensure that comprehensive reports are provided to elected officials, including the Premier and Treasury Board. You bring excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships and networks with key stakeholders.
Qualifications
As a highly credible leader, you bring significant senior level management experience with strengths in capital and business planning. You have strong financial and business acumen and comprehensive knowledge of capital planning processes. As an influential leader, you have an extensive track record of developing relationships, leading teams and working collaboratively with and engaging stakeholders. An understanding of Government of Alberta’s capital planning approval process, the roles of policy and financial committees, and government decision-making process is an asset. A related degree and a recognized accounting designation are preferred.
Salary
$5,234.94 - $6,879.68 bi-weekly ($136,631 - $179,559 annually)
