A recovery-oriented system of care is a coordinated network of personalized, community-based services for people at risk of or experiencing addiction and mental health challenges. It provides access to a full continuum of services and supports, from prevention and intervention to treatment and recovery. Role Responsibilities
Are you ready to play a key role in shaping Alberta’s mental health and addiction infrastructure? The Ministry of Mental Health and Addiction is seeking a detail oriented, analytical, and collaborative Capital Projects Coordinator to support the planning, development, and monitoring of capital projects that directly impact services across the province.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support capital planning activities by preparing project planning documents, maintaining status reports, and updating timelines for internal and external stakeholders.
- Conduct research, analysis, and risk identification to inform decision making and provide clear recommendations to leadership.
- Participate in committees and contribute expertise related to design standards, functional programming, and best practices.
- Assess project compliance with Government capital policies, standards, and approved plans, preparing reports and briefing materials as needed.
- Facilitate stakeholder engagement with Alberta Infrastructure, Health Shared Services, Recovery Communities operators, and other partners to resolve issues and ensure alignment.
- Collaborate with policy teams to address gaps or challenges emerging throughout project development and support practical, timely solutions.
- Assist with procurement and contract administration, including preparing procurement documents, monitoring contract milestones, and reviewing invoices for compliance.
- Build and maintain strong relationships across ministries, agencies, and project partners to support effective coordination and shared understanding of project requirements.

Qualifications
University degree in Engineering, Science, or a related field and a minimum of two (2) years of progressively responsible experience related to the role; or equivalent as described below.
Equivalency: Directly related education or experience considered on the basis of:
- 1 year of education for 1 year of experience; or
- 1 year of experience for 1 year of education.
Required Experience:
- Capital project planning or project coordination.
- Research, analysis, and issue/risk identification.
- Stakeholder engagement and cross‑ministry coordination.
- Reviewing project compliance with policies, standards, or capital plans.
- Procurement or contract administration support, including invoice review.
Assets:
- Designation or certification such as EIT, PMP, or CAPM.
- Experience with mental health, addiction, or health‑related infrastructure or service environments.
- Knowledge of relevant legislation and ministry priorities in relation to addiction and mental health (e.g., Mental Health Act, Mental Health Services Protection Act, Protection of Children Using Drugs Act).
