The Alberta Chief Firearms Office is responsible for administering the federal Canadian Firearms Program to oversee firearms licences and registration, maintain provincial firearms safety training standards, assist and collaborate with law enforcement agencies to help enhance public safety, inform Albertans about firearms safety and advocate for law-abiding firearms owners.

Role Responsibilities
Reporting to the Deputy Chief Firearms Officer, you will provide a variety of administrative supports for the Alberta Chief Firearms Office and business administration services for the branch. You will manage the Deputy Chief Firearms Officer’s schedule and coordinate all signings and approvals. You will also ensure coordinated and timely responses for Action Requests and other correspondence assigned to the branch.
Additional responsibilities include:
- Branch administration
- Information coordination
- Action requests
You will be required to solve administrative problems, often related to scheduling or ensuring correct information is gathered from suitable sources. You will be expected to apply creativity, initiative, and originality to your work. Excellent judgment and respect for confidentiality is critical as your decisions directly impact the branch’s operations and reputation. In addition, this position is assigned to special projects requiring research, analysis, and information synthesis to produce reports for the Deputy Chief Firearms Officer and other senior or executive level managers.

Qualifications
- A high school diploma
- Three years of related experience (executive assistant, office coordinator, etc.)
Equivalencies will be considered on a one for one basis.
The following will be considered assets:
- Experience working with the Action Request Tracking System (ARTS).
- Working knowledge of Government of Alberta records management policies and procedures.
- Experience providing support to senior executive managers/leadership.

Notes
This posting will be used to fill one, full-time, temporary (1 year) position working Monday to Friday, 36.25 hours per week.
This position is required to work onsite in Edmonton.
The successful candidate will be required to obtain and maintain an Enhanced Reliability Security Clearance from the RCMP. Any costs associated with obtaining the required documents/checks as noted or interview travel expenses, will be the responsibility of the candidate.
