Communications and Public Engagement (CPE) provides full-service communications, engagement and marking support to all of government, with expertise in strategic communications planning, issues management, media relations, crisis communications, digital communications, graphic design, advertising, public opinion research, and public engagement. CPE also manages the government’s website, Alberta.ca, and provides correspondence, writing, and event support for the Premier of Alberta. CPE delivers coordinated government-wide communications that provides Albertans with clear, accurate, and relevant government information and ensures easy access to government services

Role
Reporting to the Managing Director CPE, the Assistant Deputy Minister of Ministry Communication Services will provide strategic leadership in advancing communication initiatives that have broad impact on the whole of government. As the ADM, you will lead the delivery of ministry communication services and provide communication advice across the enterprise to senior government officials in the areas of strategic communications planning for Cabinet initiatives, issues management, media relations and crisis communications. You will work collaboratively with the Strategic Communication Services division of CPE to ensure services such as digital storytelling, brand and marketing, research and public engagement are delivered in a consistent and effective manner. As a senior leader within the ministry, you will provide critical strategic communications advice and recommendations, build high performing teams and champion innovative, client-centred and solution focused approaches.
Qualifications
As the successful candidate, you are an accomplished and agile leader with extensive executive management and leadership experience in the public service or large service-oriented organizations. You have established a leadership record that reflects your commitment to building high-performing teams, championing innovation, and finding solutions while also focusing on client satisfaction. You have demonstrated experience applying a systems focus to achieving results and leveraging data and performance measures to drive continuous improvement. Your broad knowledge of strategic communications planning in both traditional and digital communications, government communications methods and decision-making and legislative policy-making processes will support your success in this role. Your experience in providing advice to senior executive management levels, and elected officials as well as media relations have finely-tuned your political acumen.
Salary
$6,403.39 to $8,403.71 bi-weekly. ($167,128 - $219,336 / annum)
