The Ministry of Executive Council is responsible for coordinating and supporting the executive arm of government: the Cabinet (also known as Executive Council) and its committees.  Executive Council ensures effective strategic planning and coordinated policy development across government, engagement of Albertans and the broader global community, and the promotion of a vibrant and innovative public service.  It ensures outcomes are achieved by supporting strategic planning, coordinated policy development and informed decision-making for the Government of Alberta (GoA), and helps ministries communicate and engage with Albertans.

Role

Reporting to the Deputy Minister of Operations, Executive Council, the Assistant Deputy Minister (ADM), Government Operations and Integration provides high-impact, enterprise-wide leadership to advance cross-ministry productivity, operational efficiency and strategic alignment across the Government of Alberta. The ADM is also accountable for the strategic procurement function for the Government of Alberta and provides leadership to the newly established procurement Project Management Office (PMO), ensuring governance, consistency and excellence in how procurement is delivered across ministries.

 

As a key member of the executive leadership team, you will offer strategic oversight and direction in the planning, development and execution of integrated strategies that support government priorities, including high-profile, cross-ministry initiatives that influence public service delivery, policy implementation, operational transformation and government-wide performance.

 

This position operates within a newly established and agile division, requiring a forward-thinking executive with the ability to navigate complexity, foster alignment across diverse stakeholders, and translate strategy into measurable results for Albertans.

 

 

Qualifications
We are seeking candidates with extensive senior leadership experience within a large, complex, and multistakeholder environment, ideally within government or the broader public sector. Experience leading cross-functional teams and advancing enterprise-wide initiatives that produce measurable improvements in operational performance is key for this success. Your background includes significant expertise in strategic planning, organizational performance management and complex change leadership, complemented by a strong understanding of procurement governance, policy and public sector transformational initiatives. The role requires exceptional communication, relationship-building and executive advisory skills, along with a proven ability to navigate diverse stakeholder interests and drive alignment across the organization. A related master’s degree or university degree is preferred.

 

 

Salary

$7,043.73 - $9,244.09 bi-weekly ($183,841.35 - $241,270.75 annually)
